What you said about signing a contract with a big recording company makes me think of great independent artists like Ren. He's able to do whatever he wants creatively, and it seems to be working very well for him as his music blows up. A big company would probably force him to use autotune, sing about partying all night long, dress in sparkly clothes, etc., etc. They would also try to squeeze top 40 songs out of him and then cast him aside. 😧

I was totally devastated when Stuart Adamson ~ Big Country.
At the age of 43 he hung himself in a Hotel in Honolulu (Hawaii) he was a great singer and guitarist died.
You should listen to ~ Fields of Fire Jamel....

I am an independent artist, I make my own music the way I want and I do not want to sign with any record company that are only concerned with money and not art. I have my music on Spotify anyways, so a label is not needed as well.

The Doors information is wrong. Sure, that story makes more sense. But it isn't what happened. Morrison had left the band, wanting to go solo, and recorded a solo spoken word album in Paris. Meanwhile the original band recorded Other Voices without him. The record company refused to release it (its pretty weak) and insisted on another album with Morrison. LA Woman was recorded after Other Voices, but like the last two Beattles albums, they were released in reverse order. They were right about the next two albums though. The 9th album is the band recording music to go under Morrison's unreleased spoken word solo album.

If I had to guess, I believe your favorite band is just that because there was never any real drama between the band members. Drama on a personal level? Yes! They were practically brothers, so all felt the pain of another.

I've heard The Doors' work post-Morrison. It sounds like lounge music for hippies. It was pretty terrible. Not everyone is meant to be a band leader, and unfortunately, a total artistic democracy never really seems to work. I may be wrong, I'd like to be wrong, but I haven't really seen it yet, that I know of.
I think John Fogarty was super petty, but he also wasn't wrong. He threw his hands up and said, 'fine, you don't like my leadership, go ahead, do it all yourself, I'll shut my mouth and let you run, we'll see how good you are.' He proved his point, but at the expense of torpedo-ing the band's career.
