UK introduces new sanctions against Russia | Ukraine-Russia war

The UK government has imposed its largest-ever sanctions package against Russia's "shadow fleet" with 30 ships targeted, but are they doing their job?

MPs on the Treasury Committee are asking that question to directors from the Office for Financial Sanctions Implementation today.

So UK companies lost a lot of money and central Asian ones made a lot and Russia continued on its merry way.

It kind of reminds me of the ban on buying oil and gas from Russia,

purchases of oil and gas direct from Russia dropped off a cliff. Unfortunately oil and gas purchase’s from India went up the same amount but at a greater cost, mainly because India were buying it from Russia putting on a mark-up and selling it to the world.

How have the sanctions gone so far since 2022??? In 2022 Russia had the 6th largest economy, now in 2024 they have the 4th largest economy. I wish someone would sanction the UK this way and help our GDP grow.
