As an owner of a Pixelbook I bought at a pretty good discount and a person who ALSO has a Windows gaming laptop... I'll tell you 90% if people will be fine on a Chromebook

This was a battle for me. I use my laptop alot for work, light gaming, media consumption, etc. I would say I am an average consumer and a closet nerd at the same time. I found myself turning my surface into more of a Google machine with drive, docs, sheets, etc. So I got a pixelbook go while it was on sale. Got the lowest spec for $450. Figured I would dip my toes in. Haven't looked back. It does everything I need, does it fast, and does it reliably. I am extremely impressed with chrome os. I would recommend a Chromebook to 98% of consumers. The only people that should look elsewhere are professional media editors (Mac for finalcut, windows for Adobe Lightroom) or gamers. Other than those two, get a Chromebook. Amazing machines! Thanks for the video. You hit some great points.

I love Chromebooks. I just upgraded my three old Chromebooks that reached their Autoupdate Expiration from Google. I installed a Linux Distro called Gallium OS and now they are working even better that when they were running Chrome OS. I love Chrome as well so I ended up buying another Chromebook this year which will be good to go until June 2026. I just made sure It runs an Intel processor to ensure in the future when the Autoupdate Expiration is reached, I can also install Gallium OS. Cheers!!!

Picked up a new Dell Inspiron Chromebook 14" 2 in 1 in February to replace my desktop. Best decision in Tech ever. I don't miss anything about a desktop and it gets more use than even my work provided laptop.

I am hooked on Chromebook all the way and have been for the last 4 years at least. Love them.

I use a notebook mainly when I go on vacation so I bought a Chromebook 2 years ago and am very happy. It lets me hook up a external hard drive to back up the photos I take and browse the web, check the mail, and watch movies, all the small stuff you do when traveling. The battery lasts about 11 hours so I rarely have to charge it and it is lighter and less fragile than a laptop.

I bought my Acer R11 back in 2016, one of the first to get Play store apps. I love it and still use it as my everyday machine. 4yrs on and the battery life is still great, crazy! No previous laptop I have owned has lasted 4yrs. But I've since pre-ordered a Nexdock 2 and can't wait to that

Love my HP x360! Wouldn't trade it for anything. I am however planning on getting the Lenovo Duet, just because they wisely priced it right!

yes new to Chromebooks here, about three months bought the base model Pixelbook go and I absolutely love it there is not one bad thing to say about it. I get everything done on my Pixelbook that I could do on my old HP Pavilion x360 and the Pixelbook is a way better laptop than the HP in my opinion. I am happy I jumped over to Chromebook.

Just don't choose a chromebook with Mediatek as chip things like stadia will not work properly

Hi! I'm a computer programmer and for over 4 years now I've not owned a PC or any such devices. I've been relying on my Chromebook for all my life's computing needs. I've not regretted it not have I missed having to deal with viruses lagging and other such "real" computer problems.

There has been a few times where I would have loved to be able to touch a PC. When scanning directly to Android devices was not possible, I needed to use my scanner plugged into a computer. But really, that was the only time.

Ilove my Chromebooks and will not move back to PCor to Mac.

Great channel!

The biggest misconceptions conception about Chromebooks are that they don't rely on a pretty good internet connection, conversion is painless, and it is fast and easy to move from Chromebook to Chromebook.

A DSL connection MAY be adequate for a Chromebook once it has been set up, but is a horribly slow initial experience to transfer data to Google and set up apps the first time. Even with a cable internet connection, upload speeds are very slow. Uploading your data to Google Drive the first time will take far longer than copying it to another PC - hours instead of minutes unless your upload speed is very fast, like fiber.

Moving between Chromebooks is easy, not fast the first time each subsequent machine is used. Because a users data files are not stored locally, this is simpler than with ANY other OS. It only requires signing into Google, knowing the local wi-fi password, and some patience.

On each Chromebook that a person uses for the first time, the experience is equivalent of a factory reset or a Powerwash, the Chromebook equivalent. All apps and settings must be reloaded for EACH user. With a +70mbps download connection it can take up to a half hour reload the Play Store and 20 Android apps, much longer if Linux apps are part of the use profile.

How do I know this?
I converted my mother, a 15 year Windows user, to Chromebook at her home. She has an ATT DSL connection. Uploading her data took 2 days. I'm 30 year PC user.
I myself converted to Chrome OS using Comcast cable internet. It took weeks to upload my data (start and walk away). I've done +10 Powerwashes for myself and others, at an average time to restore of 45 minutes. Windows PC monthly updates take longer than that. I didn't need to know anything except Google username and password, and wi-fi password.

My windows laptop got old and seriously slow, that a lot of times it was just quicker to even print something out using my phone and the WiFi printer at work. I got an Android Lenovo Yoga Book which was fun until they stopped all support after not even two years. Then I had to work from home during the quarantine, teaching online and my work lent me a cheap Lenovo Chromebook, which I happily snubbed for a while after the initial set up because it seemed like little more than my phone with a big screen and a keyboard. But curiosity got the better of me, and I started playing with it.

I have since bought my own Acer Chromebook Spin 713, and I couldn't be happier. It helps that we use G-Suite for our online teaching, and I have bought some Aftershokz Aeropex bone-conducting headphones to make long hours of video conferencing more comfortable. It was easy to set it up with two screens because it has HDMI out. I use several Android apps, one of my favourites being SimpleMind Pro, which is a mind mapping app, which I use to plan and track my classes among other things. I guess it all depends on one's needs really, but mine are happily met so far.

Picked up a cheap Acer 2 in 1 model about 18 months ago, to give Chromebooks a try. Love it. Goes everywhere with me. I suspect that far too many users are still paying way over the odds for the full functionality of PCs and Macs that they will never actually need. ( I was )

I have switched just a few days ago from Apple iMac to Acer Chromebook Spin 713. Loving it so far and not missing Apple ecosystem at all.

I switched to Chromebook 2 weeks ago from Windows. Here are a few pros of Chromebooks:
Chromebook:
- faster boot time
- longer battery life
- simpler to use
- generally faster for the same specs in the budget price range
- a lot less maintenance is required - I would always have to update drivers and speed up my Windows laptop

I have both the Pixelbook 2017 and the new Lenovo Duet. ChromeOS still has some features lacking but for about 90% of what I need done, Chromebooks have been my go-to for several years now. ChromeOS runs like a dream on higher end hardware in my Pixelbook and even the budget hardware in my Lenovo Duet runs just fine. I'm genuinely surprised how smooth using ChromeOS is today, although some Android apps do need optimizing in tablet modes.
