To me, someone with a similar psychiatric diagnosis to Chappell, it was painful to read through the SANEISM in the discussion of her mental health break/cancelled concert on TikTok.
Apart from shockingly many people that claim to have a mental illness themselves and still insist that 'that's life, you just have to pull yourself together, you can't just not go to work' -- I'm especially appaled by those who say someone as 'unreliable' ought not occupy a job were anyone depends on them, ought not go touring.
Like: Where the hell do they want us to exist? Nowhere.

This made me think about alternative ways of being/raising families (single parent, child-free, not marrying, stay at home dads, etc.) and how people get so angry about other people's choices and I think a lot of it comes down to "wait, I don't have to do it the way my [family, society, culture] told me I had to?" People feel threatened by that. Which I think just speaks to the value of surrounding yourself with different viewpoints and ways of being and knowing

These videos are just the best! So thought provoking and I love the 'let's talk and walk' format. All my best thinking comes from a good walk. It's also a great format when having these tricky discussions with people you know - being able to talk without needing to look directly at someone is shown to be a much less stressful experience.

I would like to react to your mention of the commenters on your Charli XCX and HM video saying that "you shouldn't be surprised that she did that." When watching that video I also had a similar reaction but for a different reason - I thought "I'm not that surprised Charli did that, because brat was never really anticapitalist." It's still sad that it happened but it kinda does make sense within the whole aesthetic of "not caring (but still obediently consuming)." Those are just my to cents.

when i take a sick day, after i get back to work i do what I was supposed to do in that day i took off, or someone else did it and I'll just continue doing what comes next

problem with artists taking sick days is they keep to their schedule, they don't make space to go back and do what they were supposed to do with the people who bought the tickets

if you're an artist and you want the option to take sick days, then make your schedule flexible, you don't feel like performing this monday? cool, you can just do it on wednesday

but artists don't do that now do they? Why because it would be hard? no, because they don't give a fuck

it's not a sick day, is an "I don't feel like doing this today, i got mine fuck you" day

I believe in boundaries, privacy and human dignity for all, but she does come across as incredibly myopic and spoiled. There is a certain type of person who needs attention and adoration, but who is repulsed by at the same rime. Also, if she wasn't an industry plant, no one would care about her whining and mediocre music. Prince Harry, on the other hand, never asked for fame.
