I love how she really does see it as a job. Artists should not be expected to live and breathe their art. She clocks in and she’ll be okay when she clocks out.

Chappell Roan is her drag. When she’s performing, she’s “on” she’s working, when she’s in her sweats at a coffee shop, she’s “off” she’s a regular person.

She’s so smart to keep real life identity protected and not sell parts of herself to spend her entire life on her career… being pop star is a job not a lifestyle however lucrative and amazing and free it looks on the outside it’s a mind trap to live like your online public persona

such a blessing that she blew up at 26 and not at 21. ive always believed as much as LDR struggled she probably wouldnt still be alive if her career had taken off in her early 20s instead of late

This is the beauty of making it big while being in your 20’s instead of being a teen/child. Plenty of teen/child stars get chewed up cuz they don’t come to realizations like these until they’re in their 20’s if ever, fully identify with their career, and dont have a sense of being outside of being a star so there’s no one left to protect and ppl around em fall for the same thing. They’re just an entity and set of dreams and their humanity is gone. I feel it makes em and ppl around em too open to whatever and they get scooped up by the weirdos cuz no one had the armor to protect em. Her armor comes from a viewpoint that comes with getting a bit older or being raised to look far ahead from jump.

If there is only a single artist in the industry who is conscious of the reality, it's this gal right here. People like her are the game changers. Huge respect.

Good for her! Look at Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, etc. These people were consumed by the industry and I’m sure it wasn’t worth it for them.

Honestly, I know very little about her and her music, but have much respect for her and her realistic outlook on life and advocacy of mental health.

It’s been awhile I’ve found any artist as admirable and honest as she is. She’s an authentic talent. The music industry hasn’t had this in awhile.

Yes 👏👏👏 I’m so glad she has her head screwed on and voiced this publicly too. Health. Is. The. Most. Important. Thing. 💋

She worked so hard to get here but her "overnight success" really came at just the right time, not so early that she has to sell her soul as a young idol but also not so late that she would've quit. I lover her music and I can only hope she thrives while making it.

That's so awesome. This is goals. Do what you love, but don't let it eat you alive. Prioritize your mental health. Great message ❤

I’m so glad she’s talking about this. I feel like this is true across so many creative disciplines. If you work yourself into the ground and have no boundaries during each creative project you’ll do really well in the industry, you’ll just completely suffer outside of these projects. Can all artists be able to afford a life outside of their work and can we stop glorifying working until you literally drop dead? I really hope she’s paving the way.

I feel so bad for her. She’s clearly doing what she loves or what she thought she loved but it’s obviously very much affecting her mental health 😭
