Sanji only trains his combative abilities by keeping Luffy away from the fridge

What's crazy about Sanji is that, he is not even aiming to become the world's strongest fighter. He just wants to become the greatest chef, fighting is just an extra so that he can keep on cooking.

I've always found the "sanji is abnormally strong for no reason" a simple excuse to downplay him to be honest. I mean coby, helmeppo and Sabo are clear example of people having zero genetic advantages and yet, they're above average. Specially coby and helmeppo who went from being as weak as prestimeskip usopp to being able to use rokushiki abilities in only 3 to 6 months of training.
Truth is (and this was stated by judge's scientist after many test) sanji was a regular human until onigashima. Truth is, just like luffy and zoro, sanji spent his childhood training and fighting, besides cooking. Are we going to pretend Don krieg has been the first and only pirate to attack the baratie? Are we going to ignore that they were introduced as fighter cookers?. Sanji himself told luffy that most customer went to the baratie to see the cookers fight pirates. Sanji was never abnormally strong for no reason, he went through his fair share of training and battles before meeting the strawhats. Was he a modified human? yes. Were those modifications active and working on him? No. Therefore, everything he had before onigashima was him on his own. Diable jambe is debatable though.

Sanji his my favorite character because, in my opinion, he is really well characterized, he is full of values and in some ways i identify with a lot, I also think that he has one of the best and most moving backstories as opposed to zoro who perhaps has the worst

One note, I think you missed two of Sanji's power: Moonwalk and Observation Haki.

I’d argue that Sanji didn’t activate any of his lineage factor alteration until he had used the raid suit, very likely that Sanji was just a normal human who was taught black leg style and was abnormally strong like Luffy and zoro. Although diable jambe is such a weird power up in the series, although it could be explained through lunarian dna, it’s hard to make any conclusions. We are in egghead island so we might get some answers on his lineage factor and the dna mixed within Sanji. 😮 Also Lowkey wanted to see raid suit in action against queen, it would’ve been cool af 🥸😓.

One correction : A lot of OP characters are born strong without genetic enhancements. Sanji's gene awakening only starts in Onigashima.

The idea I got from Queen's lore dump was that Sanji may have some lunarian dna in him. During their fight when Sanjis flames were on he had massive attack power and when he switched them off he was so fast queen couldn't see him move. The same characteristics were seen in King while he was fighting Zoro. Also the flame abilities Sanji has can be explained by this and the way he controls the is through his passion.

Sanji is also pretty smart. Unlike zoro or luffy, who are rather in the moment when it comes to fighting. Sanji thinks ahead, and his tactics have saved the crew's butt or at least got a foot in the door for them to take advantage of.
Examples can be seen (spoilers, btw) in the alabasta arc where he managed to infratrate crocodile's association and in the water 7 arc I believed when he boarded the sea train in advance to help save his friends and closed the gates of justice to slow down the army of marines.

I don't care who is the strongest and cooler, what I love of One Piece is the narrative. With sanji we see a character evolve, became stronger and give lot of info about his family, origins and powers. There are so many Mangas where the main character is boosting his power like for example Ichigo, without a good narrative or development. Here you can see the pain, the love, the family issues, the bond with his friends, all put on the line and the reward to all those efforts is an amazing upgrade is power and skills. Each person in one piece had an arc story where they meet and then join the crew, this is the first time we see a character grow so much. Now is Luffy turn with JoyBoy. Maybe later we will be the turn of NicoRobin, zorro etc for me the storytelling is phenomenal

Sanji is one my favorite characters in One Piece and he’s also one of the most well written too.

Sanji can basially light his legs on fire because his brother's emotions were all transferred to him when sora drank the poison and thats how his emotions light his body and legs on fire
