Totally agree re the brown shoes, Aaron. Have been my go-to for years.
However when it comes to black shoes, it’s not just black suits/pants where they need to be worn. Black shoes also have to go with dark grey / charcoal suits. Brown only works with lighter greys. But thankfully brown suits everything else 👍🏻

The suit advice is great. I would add two more pieces of advice. 1) Find out which tailor your local fashion boutique uses so that you can get proper tailoring adjustment. 2) Get suits with higher and smaller arm holes. Smaller arm hole suits will show immediately whether the jacket fits or not.

One thing about black shoes with a navy suit I wanted to chat with you about. In my opinion, there are shades of navy that black would be fine with. Mainly the much darker shades. Also with a navy dinner suit (tux) black shoes would be a must. This type of suit/tux is much better than a black suit, in my opinion. If it is good enough for James Bond to do, the dark navy suit with black shoes, then it is good enough for most people. However, for those medium navy shade and especially all navy pinstripes brown is the way to go. I especially love a suede wingtip with a navy pinstripe suit. Thoughts?
