10 Fashion Mistakes You're Probably Making *MUST WATCH*

Fashion should be about fun and self expression which is why I don't like to lay down hard and fast rules about what we should and shouldn't wear. But there are a few fashion faux pas that I truly believe are not only easily fixed but will help us feel better, save money and have fun with fashion again.

I know these "mistakes" won't apply to everyone but I'd like this video to be a little reminder of a few tiny tweaks we can make to help getting dressed each morning so much easier.

I'd also love to hear about your fashion mistakes in the comments below. Maybe we can all share some of of funnier fashion moments so we can all enjoy a bit of a smile and compare notes. My funniest fashion faux pas (not helped by being almost six foot tall) was when I was in my twenties and I wore a body suit with press studs (domes) at the crotch. I stood up to grab a drink and the press studs burst open and my body suit sprung up and over the waistband of my skirt! I was mortified and it was the last time I ever wore a bodysuit. This is just one of many funny fashion moments I've had but I'd really love to hear yours.

Anyway, thanks again for watching my video.

This is perhaps not a fashion mistake so much as a buying mistake, but I find myself wanting to buy something because I like the scene of the picture in the catalog, and I buy it for what it represents in my mind, and not for the item itself. For example, I want a pretty white sundress because they show the model walking along the ocean in the dress. What I really want is the seaside vacation, not the dress. Same thing with sparkly Christmas items. I never go to dressy Christmas parties, yet I find myself picturing myself at a glamorous party wearing that garment and I think about buying it even though I have nowhere to wear it.

Thank you for reminding me it’s ok to let things go that don’t fit and may never fit again. I was surprised with a divorce after 20 years marriage and a stage 3 cancer diagnosis in 48 hours time last year and ended up losing a lot of weight. The end result was me dropping from a size 8 to a size 2. I assumed I’d come back to my “normal” size but a year later I’m still in the same place. I need to give myself permission to buy things that fit and not limit myself to the same handful of my teenage daughters’ things that fit (I did alter some work suits since I can’t wear their jeans to court, lol). I have a massive amount of money invested in my old closet but a lot of it won’t be worth altering on an individual item basis so I need to donate those pieces and give them a new life with someone else.

Wow, you are really speaking to me! Yes I've made some mistakes, like buying the same item over and over again. Or, as a plus size woman, buying things just because they fit, whether they look nice on me or suit my style or not. I think the best thing about aging (I'm 53) is that I actually have got wiser and more confident and have developed, or rather redeveloped and refined, my own sense of style.

Great video! I loved the fashion tips that you gave. My faux pas are keeping pieces I hope will come back or I might fit into later, which you are right about, make me feel sad and also buying waaaay to many multiple of things that I love, which I have some of those, I haven’t worn ever. 🤪

I really appreciate you and your videos. I never feel judged, ever. God bless and have a wonderful weekend.

Your channel and style little by little grew into me and now it's a must-watch. As for fashion, I think it also is important to acknowledge the psychology in fashion how that can influence our mood.

This is an excellent list because of its advice to be yourself, enjoy what you wear, and don’t spend unwisely. It’s a very positive what-not-to-do.

👏🏻🥰I found this useful, as today I ventured out in some super cute clogs but I’m going to donate them because they really hurt my toes by day’s end. I found myself justifying the pain bc I paid good money but I have to let them go because I prefer comfort.😬🙁

I agree with the tip on buying from the men's section. They always have classic pieces there.

I have clothes that no longer fit but I love them and I'm determined to slim down enough to wear them again! Shoes are no problem I have black, brown, grey and in summer sandals in every colour you can think of¬

Great content!! About four years ago I placed a "black embargo" on myself!! It used to be my default colour. I have not bought anything black since, and have even released some black items. I have gone for grey, burgundy, navy blue and red as base colours. My colour palette is so much lighter now!! I feel so much happier!! Yes, black is chic and slimming, but it can also be very deadening to light. It gives nothing back. I have focussed on my colours and now I find I maximise wear of each item. It was revolutionary!!

I’ve purged my closets - yes, closetS multiple times. My greatest regrets are giving away classic pieces. I’ll see someone else wear my old piece on a new way and wonder why I never styled it that way. I also buy some of the same styles over and over. I have gotten better. Buying better / fewer pieces in classic styles.

Hey Leonne. My mistake was constantly wearing jeans, it looked like I never changed clothes no matter how many pieces I used to vary them with.I think that was probably true because my color palete is very specific ie black, white, neutrals.Nowadays I wear dresses, skirts, all shopes of pants and the occasional jean.I find that my decision to try and incorporate different types of clothes has enhanced my style, it makes me feel free and I get alot of positive feedback. Thanks for your advice wish social media were common when we were in our 20s!!!

I have a few brands online that I really love. I never pay full price. I put them on my wish list and check back regularly until I see that they are clearanced. The season isn't that long. I wear an XSmall or Small. Those sizes are generally still available on clearance. I'm able to have a much more varied wardrobe by waiting....and I still, in most cases, get the pieces I love.

Great, information! Thanks! You really described me speaking about buying something repeatedly. I love white shirts and rarely even wear them at work. I wear them open when it's horribly hot with a tank or short sleeve under. I also want embroidery (especially white on white!) and eyelet!

I used to be SO guilty of buying individual pieces that were cool in and of themselves, but didn’t go together in a coherent way. I couldn’t understand why I didn’t have anything to wear—I had lots of clothes, but few actual outfits.
