5 Regrets of Early Retirees

💲 NEED FINANCIAL ADVICE? 💲
1) Google "fee-only financial adviser" or visit www.NAPFA.org (largest association of fee-only financial advisers). NOT an affiliate link
2) The first question to ask any financial adviser is, "Are you a fiduciary to me 100% of the time". Get the answer in writing
3) Please note that some people call themselves "fee-based". This is NOT the same as fee-only. Fee-only advisers have committed to being fiduciary to you 100% of the time.
4) Personally, I would only hire an adviser who is a fiduciary to me 100% of the time. This is not a suggestion on what you should do. Just sharing my personal preference.

⚠️ Azul's "Scammer" Warning ➡ PLEASE READ! ⚠️
Be careful of scammers. In the comments section, I will NEVER ask you to contact me, offer any investment products, recommend a stock broker, or anything similar. Some scam bot commenters 'ask' for investment help, and later, other comment bots reply with "how great X idea/investment/person is" in the replies. These are scam threads. Do not fall for them.

🚨 Azul's VIDEOS ARE NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE (Disclaimer) 🚨

The decisions on how to invest, when to retire, and other financial planning topics are some of the most important financial decisions you will make in your life. I urge you to seek professional financial advice as you make this decision. Ideally, from a financial adviser, AND a CPA AND an attorney. Having the perspective of all three professions will help you make the right decision for you and your family.

This information is being presented without consideration of the investment objectives, risk tolerance, or financial circumstances of any specific investor and may NOT be suitable for all investors.

062 [Edited Divyansh] 5 Regrets of Early Retirees

This information is NOT intended to, and should NOT, form a primary basis for any investment decision that you may make. Always consult your own legal, tax, and/or investment advisor before making any investment/tax/estate/financial planning considerations or decisions.

Spoiler Alert: There are no "get rich" programs. Rather, just basic blocking & tackling and putting in time and care. Do your homework, choose wisely and (IMHO) work with experienced professionals who are fiduciary to you 100% of the time.

I did a trial retirement at 65...bored out of my skull over the winter...so returned to work the partial year...did the same thing again this year...I work the winter and take the nice weather off from March to end of September. Best of both worlds and the company I work for has no problem with it.

I retired in February at 57 no regrets! I spend my time helping my son build his small HVAC business- there could be nothing

When I was young, my parents told me to work hard and when you retire, then you can enjoy yourself. I saw later on that when the did retire, they were not in good health and didnt have much money. Im not saying spend all your money now, just saying spend a little to enjoy yourself in the now. Life is a balance. All those people you hear on the news who died in car accidents or other tragedies...none of them expected to die that day. Thank you Mr Azul for sharing.

Our social and purpose portfolio becomes more important than our financial one. I meet many new retiree Gen Jones early 60s and they are financially secure but lost. Be intentional about mission and purpose👍

Great video! Thank you!

I retired in Feb @ 59. I wanted to go back the next week! It took almost 6 mos to let go of that life. Fortunately, I can go back, if needed. HOWEVER, I realized recently, I was living as a miser…afraid to spend money. I have plenty of $ but there’s a fear of not having enough. I’m working on changing that!

Azul, have you ever thought of doing an episode on people that are newly retired and what they can expect for investment strategies? I love your channel and I always look forward on your posting new episodes. Thank you.❤

I'm not the expert you are but the more research I do, the more strongly I agree a percentage-view on asset allocation is wrong, and a time-view on asset allocation (i.e. "how many years can I live during a downturn?) is correct. We are planning on 3 years, with options to return to work, as we're planning on an early (53) retirement.

retiring in your 50s...

It doesn't matter where you pull the money because you should be rebalancing. Pulling from bonds for a couple years is a huge mistake. You should be buying low through rebalancing.

If only our health would be reversed. Unhealthy and weak in our 20's through 50's, just sit at a desk and work. Then rich and healthy from 60 to 90! 😂

If you live to age 80, you only have about 720, 000hr to live. Not even a million hours! When you are 40, it half gone. And if you have health issues it’s even less. Go spend a few bucks!

What are the best strategies to protect my portfolio? I've heard that a downturn will devastate the financial market, so I'm concerned about my $200k stock portfolio..

I would be retiring or working less in 5 years, and I'm curious to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around $250K per year but nothing to show for it yet.

Am I retired? I’m more puzzled than anything. Kind of like when people tell you that you’re married. I didn’t have a job before in Colorado.

I thought you were going to say "none, absolutely none. I couldn't even think of one."

I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I was dumb and I didn't understand it. I studied and learned and now I know how it works. Got back into crypto early in 2023 with 10k and I’m up with 128k in a short period of time .This comment serves as motivation for all those who have invested and continue to invest in cryptocurrencies with so many losses, do not give up, cryptocurrencies can change your life. Do your best to connect with the right people and you will surely see changes.
