The magnet will work but it needs to be knocked around quite a bit to release the ball bearings. Ask me how I know. My daughter bought a tool that's specifically made to remove these tags and even that wouldn't work until it was given the shock treatment. I believe it is the rubbish chinesium tolerances that cause the ball bearings to get a little jammed up hence the need to the shock treatment.

Excellent video! Stores often leave the security tags on in error. My only 'criticism'mis that you should use a cutting board to protect the table if you happen to go 'opps''. BTW I've just subscribed! :>)

No Mr Bill! Don't go teaching thieves how to do this stuff. The actual best way to remove a tag is to go back to the store you purchased item from and have them remove it!!
