We often get asked if we make unfragranced products as many people seem to react to added scents in bath and body products. Essential oils and fragrance oils can both contain allergens that can cause people with sensitive skin to react badly, so for this reason many people do choose to avoid scented products.

However, this can lead to some less than interesting options when it comes to what to choose, because let's face it, sometimes you just want to be able to use something that smells great too!

With this in mind, I decided to formulate an unfragranced body butter that will hopefully be useful to those of you with sensitive skin.

It is important to first understands the difference between "unfragranced" and "unscented" as they are actually different terms. An unfragranced product simply means that the product has had no scent added in to it but it may have a natural scent from the ingredients that were used to create it. An unscented product should have no scent whatsoever and this actually means that further chemical ingredients may have been added to the product to deodourise it. For this reason, if you have sensitive skin it is always best to look for "unfragranced" rather than "unscented" products.

So, while we are technically creating an "unfragranced" product today, the idea is for it to have a very light, delicate, floral scent which will be achieved due to the natural scent of the ingredients we select to use, rather than by adding in any essential or fragrance oils.

To achieve this, I have chosen to make Monoi De Tahiti Oil the star of this body butter. Monoi oil is made from steeping Gardenia flowers in Coconut oil and this results in an infused oil that has the most wonderful scent!

To avoid the scent being overpowered, I avoided using any other highly scented oils in this product (such as Cocoa Butter) and made sure all other ingredients had a neutral scent.

A beautiful natural yellow colour was imparted due to the use of Rosehip Oil (a super oil for using in skincare due to its anti-aging benefits).

The resulting whipped body butter had a beautiful scent and absorbs into the skin within about 10 minutes (I could feel it on my own skin for about 10 minutes and after that my skin just felt beautifully soft). You only need to use the smallest amount though - use too much and it may feel greasy!

If you wish to recreate our whipped Monoi De Tahiti Body Butter. Then the ingredients you will need are as follows:

50g Mango Butter
30g Monoi De Tahiti Oil
10g Murumuru Butter
4g Broccoli Seed Oil
4g Rosehip Oil
0.5g Vitamin E
1.5g Arrowroot Powder
