2023 Lexus NX review: NX350 F Sport | Is the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC rival ready for families?

Family buyers with a bit of cash to spare are spoilt for choice. For one, there's the premium Mid-size SUV segment heavyweights like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. And then there's the value-focused alternatives like the 2023 Lexus NX on test here.

Much more than a Toyota RAV4 in a suit (which wouldn't be such a bad thing, by the way), the new-generation NX has already proven itself to be a serious step-up for the series, but just how well does it cater towards families?

In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family spend a week with the NX's only turbo-petrol variant, the NX350 F Sport AWD, to see if it can not only survive the kids, but also provide a genuinely luxurious experience for all passengers.

Isn't it a push button for opening the door? The mechanical only if the button doesn't work

She got it wrong with the rear door. You push the latch and it electronically open. You DON’T pull the latch!!! Thats for emergency opening.

A very lazy review. The enhancement pack 2 costs a little over $7000. Maybe research before publishing a review.
Also, the e-latch is only pump action if you’re overriding it. You just press the button and open the door.
Wow, you really were misinformed.

Solid review there Emily. Hope you enjoyed the car. At $78k+ it seems expensive than the BMW X3. Am I correct though? Anyway it brings not only peace of mind but a reassurance on its longevity and after sales service and resale. Question is would you buy it? Enjoy.

Thanks Emily for another great review. I really like this Lexus but agree it has some strong competition from other premium AWD models offering more space and better performance for the money.

Easy to watch and listen to. The door latches are push, why show pulling it when thats only in case you get stuck? Understand you sharing views of 6 year olds and 9 year olds but they aren't really relevant.

The door thing is literally a push button. I don't know how you could have been flummoxed over how to operate it.

We really need to stop calling the pockets in the back of the seats " map pocket." Who still uses maps?

Pretty poor review. Some incorrect information, like the door handles for example. They are electric push handles. The double pull is if power is lost.
The suspension is also adjustable so you could stiffen it up to reduce body roll.
You also didn’t mention the ‘hey Lexus’ feature that allows you to control different techs such as climate control, windows etc via voice commands.
You didn’t mention the remote features from the app (start, lock/unlock etc) and you didn’t mention anything about the SOS safety features. The run flat tyres would be worth a mention as well!
The CarExpert review is much more detailed.

Not as fancy as Bimmer or Merc, but you will laugh your neighbours who owns a X3 or GLC after 3 years as you still drive it nicely and theirs are either having to trade in as a crap or spending lots of time in dealerships for repair.

It’s a push release door latch - I expect the reviewer to know better, please get a real car reviewer not some phoney 👎

Boring. I'd rather spend $170, 000 on a BMW instead.
