We do something similar in Portugal called “canja” which is pretty much a rice soup/porridge but we keep it more simple and we use the actual chicken stock that we cooked the chicken in. It’s perfect for cold days pr for when you feel ill or a bit down. Perfect with some fresh lemon on the side 🥰

Here in Philippines we called it "lugaw" or "lugao", but instead of using bread we use boiled egg and sometimes add fish sauce or citrus fruit (calamansi) too add extra flavour also we prefer glutinous rice rather than the normal one when we are cooking.

Oh this sounds like what we call "cange" or "kange" in Seychelles, we also eat it as breakfast with fresh fried fish and cooked red lentils. The rice is kind of overcooked and kind of soft and a bit "wet". So good

Whisk it instead of blending and it’ll get the same effect . Less cleaning too

Tiffy... don't listen to the haters. Your recipe is perfect. I can't even watch other tutorials anymore because ik the way I like my congee and it's the way you cook it. That's the way I had it in my childhood and how I want it always. 😭 So yeah...keep doing what you do.

I chop up pieces of century egg and cook it together with the rice. It's so good. Makes it so rich.

The issue of using a blender is I would have to wash an extra equipment - I would have just let it cook a bit longer and turn into congee by itself than to wash a blender lol

If I am Sick usually my mum will make porridge or congee for me . Even when having menstruation before or even after u will feel cramps having congee is the best thing ever u have
