He cannot sue. I've been using this since 2011. It clearly tells on the screen to let go of the wheel and release the brake slowly. The car will control the wheel only not the bakes. The car tells you when you should stop and put it into drive so as to pull in and finish parking. He was going too fast and not paying attention. I hope he has good insurance.

I have a buddy that worked part time at a dealer. He took a guy for a test drive. Dude let off all the pedals and took his hands off the steering wheel when approaching stopped vehicles while going pretty fast. My buddy grabbed the wheel and yelled for him to brake. My buddy was like why the f did you do that. The guy apparently said he was testing the collision avoidance. My buddy looked at him and said, "you asked for the base model, this doesnt have that option".

Hi Ugo! I have a note-
This isn’t an AUTONOMOUS feature, but an Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) feature. Self driving is on a scale from L0 - L5. Level 4 is considered autonomous- meaning no drivers need to be in the car at all (ie Waymo). At that level, the manufacturer is legally responsible for all accidents and traffic infractions. But because this is an ADAS system, it’s L2- so you’re responsible.

There is an old law in California people have forgotten about that if you get stopped riding a horse drunk, and you can prove that the horse knows it's way home on its own then you are free to go. I can't wait until the first time this gets tried on court
