Reading My Essays that Got Me Into UPENN (with common app tips)

This is the Common App and Questbridge personal essay that got me into the University of Pennsylvania! I applied regular decision to Penn in 2021 and I got lucky enough to get in.

Hopefully, this video provides a little insight on college essays in some way, shape, or form. There's definitely better writing somewhere out there, but this is what I wrote and what worked for me. Maybe this will provide a little bit of inspiration for the struggling high school seniors (me at one point).

It took me awhile to film this video because I was really hesitant on whether I wanted my personal essays to be read, heard, or seen by other people. I used to binge watch all these college videos when I was applying so I eventually wanted to make my own. These essays are a deeper side of me and I wanted to be more transparent. I started this YouTube channel as a video diary for myself and I'm determined to continue that journey.

As a middle child with the 'smarter' 'more studious' 'more sociable' older sibling, I can relate to the feeling of always being compared and always being in the shadow.
