Apple just released a new m3 iPad Air and a new A16 iPad, and while on paper these updates look fine... Apple made a lot of weird decisions with these updates that have me scratching my head.

Apple probably have thousands of M3 chips lying around after having to dump the M3 laptop line sooner than they wanted to. Had to use them somewhere!

I think it’s crazy that the M2 has only been out 10 months and a new iPad is out.

Sad for those of us who are Apple fans to see the company disintegrating before our eyes. It has become so disappointingly common - still expensive, but no longer unique!

the keyboard and apple pencil compatibility is simply insane with the iPad line

Now the iPad Mini is a much better choice.

The fact that they made the keyboard cases exclusive to each model is such a bad decision in every way. It's becoming clear to the average consumer that it's all about upselling. And now there's gonna be tons of old magic keyboards that can't be used anymore.

Maybe the new iPad is meant for the educational market where educational institutions don't want their students to use AI or Apple Intelligence because they want the students to learn how to write, conduct research, and learn mathematics on their own?

They probably wanted to make another keyboard because it’s cheaper and they don’t want to give a premium keyboard experience to a cheaper iPad model

I’m so glad I’ve been in the second hand market for Apple products since 2021.

"Apple doesn't release a new product everyday" isn't the new Macbook Air release tomorrow???

Then why the hell didn't they put the A16 in the 16e and call it the SE4?

So many YouTubers freaking out about the recent release but it makes perfect sense from a corporate perspective: the base iPad was first introduced to serve the education and business market and it will continue to. Education/Business clients don’t need Apple Intelligence, they want cheapest iPad, so the double binned A16 makes sense. Apple never intended the base iPad to be the core product of the iPad line-up, you should see it as a corporate-focused device that is sold in the mass market for the sole purpose of capturing any additional sales. For personal clients, Apple wants them to buy the standard (Air/Mini) or premium (Pro). The new keyboard for the Air and the M3 suggests that Apple will continue to keep the Air and Pro line very separate in term of hardware moving forward. Previously, there were a lot of cross compatibility between the Air and Pro due to Apple reusing Pro components on the Air to cut cost, but market has saturated to the point where hardware differences are being pushed to maintain product segments.

Yea not at least supporting Apple Intelligence is a very weird decision honestly

I’m getting to the point where I’m sick of Apple products, it’s getting so annoying how there’s absolutely nothing New, I feel like I had the same iPhone for 10 years straight, “upgrades” don’t feel like upgrades

It's easy to understand why they are what they are: money.

The best value Apple product by far is a used or refurbished Apple product.
They run the same OS and do the same thing as an equivalent new one.

I have the iPad 10th gen which runs absolutely fine with no issues. Now the new iPad came out at the same price and double the storage. You can’t find a better tablet at this price point
I tested the galaxy tab s9 fe and it is not even close so iPad all day every day

Have iPad 9th gen, still work’s perfectly fine, and for my use will only consider base iPad option. In a few years will replace this one for base iPad available at that moment.

The only reason I can think they upgraded the iPad Air with the M3 is that they are running out of stock on the M2 and just trying to run through their M3 stock. That is literally the only thing that makes sense at this point.
