Why wouldn't you use construction based glue non toxic stuff..

Also people usually do not glue the whole piece only in back of object casual like you said what if you want to change it or mess up

Do glue the whole thing

They also have pins when you place material in back you glue let it get tacky then start placing material down then you can pop the pins in

Spraying that like that was not good

That pattern looks like Black Panthers suit.

You need a way more serious glue than that.
