So in today’s video, let’s talk about the importance of identity and how having an alter ego could change your life. I know an alter ego might sound a little weird or extreme, but it’s actually more common than you think, and has been used by so many successful people.

I hope you love this video! 💕

Omg I did this YEARS ago when I quit smoking! I had tried to quit dozens of times and it never stuck. The last time I quit, I decided to call myself a non-smoker, rather than an ex-smoker. My theory was that a non smoker would NEVER be tempted by a cigarette, but an ex smoker would always be tempted on some level. And it was still really REALLY hard to quit, but whenever someone was smoking around me or offering me a cigarette, I told myself I was a non smoker, therfore obviously I didn't want a cigarette. 😊

You know what, I just realized something - I think this is why I enjoy traveling so much, especially on my own. I tap into my confident, mysterious alter ego and imagine everyone I meet perceives me in that way…

Edit: guys. I took it too far... a friend I met abroad just told me her husband thinks I might be a CIA agent 💀

Yesss🙌 The best advice I was ever told is don't ask "how can I do this" ask "who do I need to become to be able to do this". I have used this idea throughout my life in many ways; to start taking better care of my fitness, overcome shyness with men and alleviate social anxiety. I don't ask "how?" I ask "who?"... and it works!

I LOVE this idea!!!! When I’m in a really bad rut of depression and lack of motivation, I’ll summon my alter ego “Shamaya” ..She’s a bad ass woman who keeps her house clean, handles her business, gets her to do lists done and works out. It helps so much after a week and then I slowly adapt those changes into a routine. I even made a Pinterest board for motivation as “Shamaya.” Nothing weird about it. Whatever we can do to lift our spirits!!!

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my YouTube channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 141 subs and almost 75 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Last fall I took language classes in Spain and noticed that I was a different person when I spoke in Spanish, in a way Spanish helped me see the world differently, to think differently and to even build a whole new set of mannerisms. I’ve been thinking of moving to Spain ever since and I guess I liked that version of myself!

If you think about it, accepting to live our lives with our insecure and broken selves is way crazier than embracing a new perspective of who we are and act in accordance to that new version of ourselves.

When I played Dungeons and Dragons, I accidentally created the highest version of myself in the form of a character I created. She was very feminine and sexual (bards ya know) but she also was self sacrificing and heroic - dying for her friends. I started torealize there were things I could do as Kassandra that I didn't feel comfortable doing as Justina. I had a broken sense of my self as a woman, and Kassandra did not. What really hit home for me was when I went to the store and kept looking at pretty clothes saying "Oh! This is SO Kassandra!" What I meant was... I really like this pretty thing! But it wasn't Ok for ME to like, but for Kassandra it was.
Now, I'm a couple years removed from playing that character in game, but rather embodying womanhood for myself and tapping into my feminine energy because of what I realized playing that character in game.

We are just unlocking our full potential by “tricking our brains”. It is still us achieving these goals, and the more we provide evidence to ourselves that we are capable of these things, the less we need the alter ego.

Whenever I'm in a rut, or feeling lazy, or incompetent, I pretend I'm Amal Clooney (someone I think has it all together all of the time, and plus I love her personal style). Doing that puts me in a completely different state of mind and I'm able to do whatever I need to get done and feel good about myself too

I remember doing this decades ago when I started a new school. I was tired of being the shy awkward girl and I realised that all the new people I was meeting did not know me, so I could be anything or anyone I wanted at the new school

This is like killing off your old self, to shift to your ideal life, I've heard it working before, changing your name/alter ego just makes it work better ❤

Ive been doing this for a few years now at work! If it weren’t for my alter ego persona idk if I would even have a job. She goes by my middle name. Super feminine and gets things done! And she always wears green for some reason. I get kind of misty eyed thinking I have to do this to stay employed, but I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one. Thanks for the tips.
Love your channel. 🦋

I actually used this on someone else and it’s working. This person caused so much drama and stress in my life, I was triggered every time I had to communicate with them. I decided to recreate them, I call them by their middle name (in my head) and gave them a whole new personality. I’m so much calmer now.

I love the concept of this book. I like to think it of it as well as "altar" ego. Your best self. And an altar is really a focus tool.

I came across a video on tiktok a day ago about how being delusional helps you manifest what you want in life so I went onto pinterest and started a new board with things I (my higher delusional self) would do/behave. Then I got a notification that you uploaded this video and I was shocked because what a crazt alignment this is! I love how this video has affected my perspective in much deeper way and I love that I can use this video as a check point to see how much I've transformed.

This reminds me of the “cool girl” monologue in the book/movie “gone girl” the author Gillian Flynn actually used it as a writing exercise but it turned out so well it made became an iconic part of the story

Wow, this is a little nuts. Last night after a sweaty workout, I did my makeup and hair right before my shower, just for funsies (I usually don't wear more than mascara and foundation). I knew I would just wash it right off so there was no pressure to look good for anyone else. I really liked how it turned out and it made me feel good about myself. As I was in the shower, I thought to myself, "I could make an alter ego version of me who wears make up and feels pretty and confident." Now it doesn't sound so crazy, so maybe I will actually do it 😅

I did something similar to help with exercise. I hated exercising and always wanted to stop short of my goals. I felt like a personal trainer would call me lazy and pathetic, but once I switched it around and imagined myself as a personal trainer who was trying to motivate another person to achieve her workout goals, it somehow became easier. Now I feel like I'm the one who's fit and energetic and some other imaginary person is the one who's tired and wants to quit but I'm always there to help her.
