a good rule of thumb for starting stack size, is to determine what the blinds are, and then try to give every player 100 big blinds. also this is optional but I like to divy up the chips for each player so that when you color up, there's an even number of chips on the board for the next chip

ie: if you start with 5/10 for your blinds, I divy up the chips like this:
10 reds (5)
10 greens (25)
6 blues (50)
4 blacks (100)

this way no matter the players, you will have a number of reds divisible by 5, so however many reds you have, they can average out to 2 greens per player's starting stack of reds. now each player would on average have 12 greens, that can be divided by 2. to get 6 new blue chips per, now there's an average of 12 blues per player, divided by 2 for 6 new blacks, giving an average 10 blacks per player. perfect for doing 2 purple(500) or 1 yellow(1000) this makes sure that you never get a scenario where when you color up there is a leftover 3 reds for example, and you'd have to add money to the table or take away the 3 reds completely.

(also, when a player has an amount of chips that does not divide evenly when coloring up, they add those chips to the next pot, winner receives all leftovers which in turn make it even again for coloring up.)

I play with 6 players and use waaay more chips 😅 but we play a dollars and cents system on our typical $20 buy in

There is a video about the explanation of the cash game and the buy in, or how many hours a home poker game usually lasts, meaning whether the home "tournament" lasts at least three or four hours, or math how much money you have before you play your last hand? I've seen this thing about calculating how much money you have before the last hand in some movies, and I don't know if it's mandatory or not. Nobody wanted to explain it to me.

when trading green for black (100/200 level), leftover greens are a problem. All-ins require they be matched, so, change must be made (sometimes). I guess the answer is: Oh, well!

2 hours seems rather short for an 8 person tournament. You wont be able to get in that many hands in that time, especially if you have beginners dealing.

What would the chip values be for a $5 noobie tournament game with one buy in each? I need to know for my homies. Xan you do .5 cents, 10. cents, .25 cents, and $1 chips? And how many? Or can it just be set as a $20 game where you get 40 chips? My friends be arguing over this $5 game bc they freaking start with 60 chips full value each....that's whack!
