Being that she is from India probably OP in story 1 was an arranged marriage, and his affair partner was a 'love' connection. So his parents will have more loyalty towards her rather than a woman with no connection to their family.

I do have chronic exhaustion. So I keep a barstool in my kitchen. I can sit at it to do the prep work and the cooking and the dishes, so I don't get too exhausted to eat. It's called being adaptive. Buy your wife a barstool for the kitchen. For me it was a game changer
