I remember trying to call Microsoft. Ended up with an Indian guy who I could barely hear, so I just hung up. Then I bought an oem key from kinguin.

I bought a Win10 Home key last month at URCDKey for like $12 and it activated first try. Some argue that these keys violate Microsoft TOS, but I dont believe they do. What do you think?

Both my keys were from ebay and have been fine, i had to do the phone thing to get windows 7 installed some years ago .

Windows key generators have always served me well

This will only work for people that bought windows 10. If you got windows 7 and upgraded for free then it won't work for you.

For those who don't know, after activating Windows, make sure you link the activation with your Microsoft account (not local account). Doing so will make life easier in the long run. For example, you format your PC and reinstall Windows 10, to get the activation back all you need to do is sign in your Microsoft account.

Thank you so much. I am one of the last to try and upgrade to windows 10. I wanted to start a fresh install of windows 7 and it simply did not let me activate Win 7 online. I knew my key was geniune. Wish I came across your video sooner rather than trouble shooting and wasting 5 hours.
