I've got a huge rosemary bush in my yard that's over 7 years old and somehow survived the South Florida humidity. I think it originated as a novelty centerpiece from a Christmas party many years ago and has managed to survive. Tough plant that smells amazing

My rosemary lasted 5 years in my garden bed out front, the -30 windchill temps before Christmas killed it😭😭 I was so crushed. I already tried to sow some seeds again but this video is super helpful!! Thanks😊

i never realized how tricky it was to get rosemary to grow from seeds! we had huge rosemary bushes in my childhood yard, they seemed like the most durable plant back there. our old dog would actually sleep in one of them and she would come inside smelling of rosemary. they got to be somewhat of a nuisance and were removed long after i moved out, but they've become associated with some nostalgia and good memories for me. i was hoping to grow my own but it kinda seems like i'll be biting off more than i can chew. this video is very helpful though. wish me luck!

I had a plant that was about 10 years old. My grandsons love to pull off the leaves and throwing them around. One day they decided to plant some on the side of my house along with sage. They didnt tell me and before I knew it I have a fabulous sage plant and Rosemary plant. Amazing!

Wow! Here in Minnesota it's super easy to cold stratify using winter sowing. I always thought of rosemary as a tropical plant so I've never stratified it! That explains a lot! Thanks so much for the info!

Thank you! I've had poor success growing and maintaining Rosemary. A super herb that I want all the time! I just sprouted my first one and will use your tips :-)

I have grown rosemary from seed but it is soooo slow. It is very easy to propagate from cuttings. Take 6” cuttings, strip off the bottom 4 inches of leaves, dip in rooting hormone and stick a bunch of them in a pot with coco coir. I keep them in a plastic storage box under moderate lights for a week or two then transplant into soil when there are a few roots.

Thank you. I managed to start 4 rosemary plants about 5 years ago out of 20+ seeds and managed to keep them alive through 3 South Central Alaska summers (outside) and the following winters indoors. It took them a year to get big enough that I could pick sprigs off to eat. 70 degrees F is a hot day for my summers, but they did grow. Halfway through the 2023-2024 winter, they got some kind of fungus infection I couldn't stop and it killed them. I really miss being able to pick fresh rosemary for my meals and was hoping to get some started again this spring. I really appreciate the tips.

I learned something new! Somehow I missed that Rosemary is similar to Lavender. That makes so much sense why it takes so long to grow. I currently have two Rosemary and one Lavender (both from MIgardener) growing under lights and it is true how slow they are. They've been at it since February and they're still only a few inches tall, but they are healthy. I germinated mine in soil blocks and they seem to be very happy in them (started in 3/4" and upped to 2").

Wow, thank you for including a vegan option. That is amazing and very thoughtful of you.

Edit: Oh just realized VegaGrow is YOUR product that you sell on your website. That's awesome! Definitely buying some! Appreciate you, Luke.
Edit #2: You just sold a 6 lb bag of VegaGrow. Can't wait to receive it!

By coincidence I have rosemary seeds that just germinated a few days ago. I resorted to start from seed because all of my rosemary plants didn't make it through the winter even though the winter on Long Island was very mild. Thanks for this video, I hope my seeds make it.

I really thankful of you making such a confusing topic as growing rosemary and to an extent lavender because they are in similar family as simple as this that we can easily remember to do. :)

Thanks for the advice. I have somehow managed to accidentally grow rosemary in the humid lower Midwest. Don't know how I did it but it can be done. Had that plant 2 years. Maybe used the Rosemary three times. Still it looked and smelled nice. This go around I will hopefully harvest more.
