The best British food can often be found in the worst places, if the fish and chip shop has a cracked sign, a broken window, and looks like it hasn't been inhabited since 1987 then prepare for the best, freshest, most flavourful meal you've ever had, even better if it's in a back alley near the beach front in Blackpool

As a resident brit, bangers and mash is fucking amazing. Not as breakfast food, but with thick beef gravy and peas it's the ultimate easy comfort food.

In our defence, most of our "bad food" were created just after WW2 when food was rationed right up to the 1950's so we had to get creative during that time.

Today that is no longer the case, we have many good food that gets put under the radar such as

Sunday Roast (Chicken/Beef with roasted/boiled Veg, gravy, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings)
Bangers & Mash (Sausage, mash and garden peas with gravy that's all it is)
Beef Wellington (Beef cooked rare with puff pastry wrapped around it)
Welsh Cawl (Welsh Soup with lamb/beef leeks potatoes swedes and carrots)
Toad in The Hole (Sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter, served with Onion and vegetable gravy)
Lancashire Hotpot (Lamb/mutton and onions with sliced potatoes cooked on a slow heat)
Cullen Skink (Scottish thick soup made of smoked haddock, potatoes and onions)
Bubble and Squeak (Cabbage and potatoes mixed and fried served for breakfast)

Not to mention our cakes, deserts, and puddings.

Gotta say, I had the best burger in my life in York. Some little bar I stumbled upon while on a trip. It could also be because I hadn't had a decent meal in 48 hours but my friends said the curry was good too.

most of our good food is cakes and sweets. our climate doesn't really suit the growth of much stuff that doesn't taste sweet or savoury and importing as an island nation when you don't own half of the known world anymore is a bitch. so we're left to get more experimental with more traditional fruit/veg and livestock.
