Not sure why this happens, this is how I fixed it. How to fix your timeline if it's stuck in fast forward! If your premiere timeline is choppy, here's how to fix it. If it's laggy and the audio is choppy, try doing this to fix it.

it still works as of Aug, 2024. If you try switching back to the normal audio input it will go back to fast forwarding. so keep it on no input.

video could have been half as long. take a note from the adobe in a minute channel. You spent over half the video re-explaining the issue that we all clearly came here to resolve, which is unneded. but reagrdles, i thank you. The issues is resolved. for those who don't want to wait through the nonsense, the solution starts at 1:02

Hi, just letting you know that doing this makes it impossible to use the audio recording feature (as it disables audio input altogether), so if you want to record any audio inside Premiere then you have to keep going back to this to turn off your audio input if you want to play back the audio at normal speed. From my testing, a better fix is actually to lower the latency to 30-60 (in the same Audio Hardware settings).
