You forgot that normal does have 1 spot since you must get eevee if you play that version.

3:09 this is not the fastest way,
If you go upstairs to see May and immediately walk downstairs. May will meet you on the first floor. This is only in emerald too!

If you play as the female protag, the male will have less dialogue, so some of them might be less because of that

“That answers the question that nobody asked”

I actually directly looked for this video by searching to see if someone had made it. I was interested! Very lucky that it came out just three days ago

Damn, my money was on Black/White as the fastest, because you don't even have to leave your house to get it. It's literally dropped into your lap. I knew it was fast in Red/Blue, because there's really nothing to do before you have your first mon and the professor's exposition dump was really short compared to later games, but I really thought Black/White would be faster, simply because you didn't have to leave your house to get one.

It's funny how water and electric are tied for being the fourth most common default-selection starter type, while flying snags place 3 with Rowlett alone; a mon that doesn't even keep the type to its final stage

FYI You have had instant text activated for Pokémon Yellow which makes the on-screen text appear instantly thus saving a little bit of time. It's not that big of a deal but it might have been enough to put Yellow ahead of Gold/Silver.

You have to pick eevee as your starter in one of the two let’s go games, put normal type on the board

One of the most annoying things is wiping and restarting a nuzlocke in one of the longer intro games. Gotta sit through all of that every time!

Sun and Moon may be one of the longest, but I really loved the cinematic. Melted my heart. :')

A very random question to ask, but it was interesting to see the differences in all the games

I'd imagine before watching this that it has to be Gen 1 or 2 because there is much less of a tutorial than in future games.

I actually predicted Red and Blue being the fastest since I've played Gen 1 enough times to know how fast the beginning is, and also predicted that the older the game the faster it would be. I was actually a little surprised by Legends Arceus, since like you said it doesn't feel very long due to actually doing stuff.

I'm pretty sure in multiple games if you play as the female protagonist, the male protagonist that will interact with you will have less dialogue.
I know people have commented on this multiple times already, but comments are good for the Youtube algorithm.

In Emerald, if you go into the room upstairs and then come back downstairs instead of interacting with the pokemon your rival will enter the house and interact with you downstairs. Can you try that and see if it is a faster time?

I don’t know which is better. Electric getting picked as much as water or rowlet getting picked more then water

I assume yellow version has you walk 1 extra tile into the grass to prevent you from being able to soft lock your game using the wandering npc in pallet town.

seeing this video
makes me realize that for my Netherlands inspired region idea
it would also be pretty lengthy
as you would have the intro, character and name pick, talk to mom, head outside where a short cutscene plays, meet your excited neighbor rival, head to the next town, get a lengthy cutscene (as a festival is taking place) & then choose your starter
