I always germinate my seeds using the paper towel method in a sealed plastic container that I put on top of my fish aquarium. The warmth and light comes from below but the seeds always germinate in a day or two. Last week I had sunflower seeds germinate and wanted to grow down when I put them in pots under grow lights. I propped them up with wooden dowels to show them where the light was coming from now and they shot up like crazy. In just one week they are about 10 inches tall. The ones I put in pots outside are only about 1 to 3 inches tall. This in California, Oakland.

You are the best Randy! This video will help many of us gardeners who are experiencing leggy seedlings and how to save them. My plants are growing strong since January. Thank you once again. Thumbs up!

Perfect timing!

I have a small grow light lamp but I still get soooo many leggy seedlings all around the exterior of my seedling trays! I think I might need another grownlight. So thank you for the info. Gonna be repotting a lot this weekend.

If trying to grow indoors you must have enough light, and the warmer the room the faster the plants grow. I am fortunate enough to have a small grow room set up in my garage. I use T5 fluorescent fixtures that have 4 lights, about $100 at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Obviously not everyone can do this, and a couple of high wattage grow lights will be better than nothing. I keep my grow room about 68 degrees and I run an oscillating fan. The flexing of the plant stems from the fan causes micro breaks on the stem, and healing, which makes a stronger plant.

Thanks for the great video, love your vibe.
I am a beginner gardener and this is my first time germinating seeds and yep we got leggy so going to do this asap.
I have also learnt from a really experienced British gardener (Monty Don ) that it's better to handle seedlings from their leaves as once a delicate stalk breaks the seedling is damaged however if a leaf breaks off it will always grow back.

I started planting in January and all of mine got leggy and died, I was so sad. I am learning from it though and will be purchasing a grow light or two.

I wish you the best tho and I hope I'm wrong for your situation but typically brassicas don't react well to that

You can mound above the ground level but you can't burry it
