hot staging can be useful starting point to design an emergency evacuation system for starship if the booster failed. but now we have to make sure that starship can survive an emergency sea landing without blowing up.

It would make more sense for the booster to keep on firing after the ship was separated, to facilitate the flip and boost-back burn, make it faster and more efficient as well; But I don't know how SpaceX will handle this.
Other than that, this is, as usual, a fantastic animation.
