I am always amazed that it is never mentioned that hot staging combined with the characteristics of starships upper stage gives you an effective abort svstem.

when starship fire while still attached, the frame shoot sideway creating loss. it will work better if they detach before fireing, also detach happen after superheavy is close to thrust, with tight timing.
secondly, having holes disturb the air flow creating drag and instability

Yes, I figure hot staging will be more efficient but I didn't think it would be 10% better. Does seem like a lot to me but reality doesn't lie. We'll see if that can that much from it.
