“I want to sleep like i slept when I was a boy” ugh this like gets me every time. To sleep knowing that all of your worries were in someone else’s hands. To fall asleep and wake up without a care in the world. I want to sleep like that again. 😭

Just the most touching scene! It stirs up so many thoughts and emotions! James Spader is one of the best actors of all time!

And the tear dripping down Don‘s face as he realizes how good life can be…

This is the damn beauty of English literature recited by an amazing voice in a mesmerizing acting. And many of these words and places are the one he hung out and liked over his time and life. He said it in an interview!

I just started this show about 2 weeks ago on Netflix. I'm 5 seasons in. The show already had me in the first episode. But this. This monologue. This is what hooked me. It's so damn good. So genuine. The cut to Ressler with tears running down as he pictures what he's never had in the face of certain death. It's perfect.

What I love about this scene is that Donald has resigned himself to death without ever having really lived. Red inspires him to keep fighting to live because their is so much he has never experienced. Beautiful writing.

When Red talked about sleep like he did when he was a boy it shattered my heart. I remember my parents being divorced and living with my Grandpa and when I was at his house I felt so safe nothing in the world could ever matter because in the end I knew as long as Grandpa was around I would be ok.

His character telling a story from experience to make a point is the pinnacle of acting, making the audience “feel” what he’s describing

What a difference in perspective makes. Reddington has enjoyed a very high quality of life and, at the same time, has overcome many extremely challenging hurdles. This gives him the mental strength and resilience to fight against negative thoughts so as not to fall prey to them. He can frame almost every bad situation in a positive and self-empowering way. Ressler, on the other hand, sees life from a much lower level. He hasn't been through as many challenging situations and hasn't had the same experience or training mentally to handle the same situation as well as Reddington. Through speaking to him, Reddington can share his insight and help him frame the situation in a healthier, more adaptive way. We all need such reminders: however grim a situation may seem, we have the best chance of success if we choose to think positively and to remember what gives life meaning and weight. We need coherent, deep belief systems to have the strength to live well.

What Red wants most of all is "peace in his time"(Ultron). He wants to sleep without worrying that his world would crumble when he wakes up.

You can feel how tired and exhausted he is and how he is really indeed needs to sleep like a little boy

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this scene… I love everything about it. His calm yet excited voice, his way of speaking and the words he uses. He remembers everything, all the details. I wanna feel the warmth of a woman in a set of cool sheets… what a beautiful sentence… the antithesis. I wanna sleep like I slept when I was a boy… I wanna feel the sun on my skin for as long as I can… everytime I sit in the sun now I think about this and it makes me feel excited about all the, ,little“ things in life.

I loved this scene when I first watched it (this and the "I ran out of gas" scene later on in this season). Spader's performance in this show is truly something else. I hope that I'll get to experience some of the things that he talks about here in my life.

This was a beautifully written and performed speech. Really wonderful. A moving encapsulation of the human yearning for life, experience, the bittersweetness of mortality.
