Lots to be happy about with last night's game. A few expected mistakes but Slafkovsky played very well as did most of the players.

Slaf and Cole both scored in last nights game… had me so hyped, all I care about this season is that we are competitive game to game and see improvement out of young guys!

Slafkovsky played very well. Interesting to hear what st MSL plan for slaf, he is definitely keeping him closer to watch his development.

Two things need to happen; Dach has to develop face-off skills and someone in the lineup has to work out well on the 1st line with Suzuki and CC so that Dach can Center the 2nd line this season to develop that skill. If he can't develop that skill, he will make an excellent Winger, but I think that leaves the Habs still in need of a Center for the top 6. Monahan, Dvorak, and Evans are not expected to be part of a rebuilt team. Beck projects as a solid 3rd line Center, and Newhook is likely going to play on the Wing. If Dach works out as Center the future could see a 1A and a 1B line instead of a 1st and 2nd line. 🙌

Caulfield - Suzuki - Roy
Slafkovsky - Dach - Anderson

That would do damage

As we are still rebuilding and Kirby Dach is still very young, having him continue development as a centre should be the priority for the future. Sean Monahan is a great addition to the first line adding a veteran to help the young Suzuki and caufield duo develop further.

6:40 I'd really like to see Joshua Roy playing with Suzuki and Caufield

Love your Habs Digest, why no podcast? Would be great to be able to just listen?

We haven't seen Suzuki and Caufield reaching their full potential because Caulfield played 1/2 a year last season.

I lean more towards Marty's diversity-of-lines approach since, as we saw last year, removing one element of a productive line leaves the other two forwards "stranded."
Especially if no other lines can fill the void enough to compensate. The more the offense is spread over multiple lines the better for the team overall. Too many teams put all their eggs in one line-basket and wind up with with an inefficient omelette. It results in scrambled play...and missing the playoffs...again!

Can't be a one line powerhouse, got to diversify the offense. Dach as a Center makes more sense, build a strong second line, and maybe a third. The idea is not to dilute the offense but to dilute the opposing team's defense.

Dach looked so solid even if he didn’t score he’s becoming a power forward with hands

Now is the time to see if Dach can be a true 1C or 2C vs finding out when the Habs become more and more competitive

Habs fan on twitter are sheep... The guy is still a teenager FFS, give the big kid a break.

I think the Habs management wants to have a really balanced team so that they can really roll 4 lines and 3 pairs on D that play a certain fast paced style. Marty will vary ice time depending on match-ups, who's hot and to keep players fresh. Injuries will occur ( hopefully not like the last 2 seasons) so I feel they want players to be able to play comfortably in all sorts of configurations. So just experiment as there are so many moving pieces with young players on all different development curves.

Joshua Roy is the guy to play with SuziField. He has all what it is needed for them.

I'm surprised they haven't even tried RHP on that first line yet. He was on fire last year when Caufield was out, would make sense to me ...
