Do you see the irony that US national security apparatus is so eager to protect the intellectual property rights of private pharma companies? I am not against doing that.

But, the US government was basically lacklustre at convincing these same companies to bend their rigid for-profit logic towards saving lives in the on-going epidemic.

China has a pretty good move on the US and the US really backed themselves into a corner. The Chinese can sell the US debt they are holding, which would push interest rates up. The US would have to pay that interest rates on an already high debt load. By the US taking out so much debt they have backed themselves into a corner against the Chinese.
