If voting made any difference, they wouldn't let us do it. - Mark Twain

This is why no candidate ever asks you what you want, they just talk at you and tell you what THEY want to do.

It’s so weird. The illusion of freedom feels so real until you just take a couple of moments and let it sink in, you start critically analyzing what’s going on, for a few seconds it feels like a dream, that you have all that’ll you ever need, then you realize the strings attached to everything, it’s a mass deception, it was never a dream, it’s truly a nightmare.

True freedom is being free from the system, voting will always simply be another process in the system

A sad, sad truth about our reality.
And barely anyone sees it.

"Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristocratic forms. No government in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, government tends more and more to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class — whether that class be hereditary royalty, oligarchs of financial empires, or entrenched bureaucracy."

I haven't voted, even Libertarian, in more than 10 years. I just finally saw the mindless futility of it, and I'll admit, I didn't want to be under the jury duty radar any more than I had to be.
What I'm trying to do is find my own freedom in the unfree world I live in, to evade and work around the all-controlling, overlapping states and sub-states (nations, states, counties, cities....) as much as possible.
I, and others, have tried to work with others in creating oases of freedom, but we seem to be in a tiny minority. You can get a lot of "libertarians, anarchists, and freedom advocates" to applaud what you're doing, and clicking the "like" button on your Facebook group, but almost none of them want to set aside any time and effort to work with you in real life.
People who're trying to create oases of freedom are often marginal, social outcasts, and if they get too bold and vocal, there's always an element, inside and outside the government, who're very ready, willing and able to assassinate their character, drag them through the mud, and shut them up, whether such saboteurs be on the alt-right, alt-left, traditional liberalism and conservatism, or the comfortable, complacent middle. The status quo is socially and culturally very powerful, and very brutal.

I think we have stooped pretty low when the lesser of two evils has become accepted

Voting and elections give the people the illusion of choice, the illusion of democracy.

When Rome found itself in despair in similar circumstances, it turned to a dictatorship. A single dictator was thought to be preferable to a slew of smaller ones, which turns out to be true! They also had another method that they would try. They had a sort of arbitrator who had the power to sanction ANYONE who broke laws or morality. This person was beyond reproach in their own personal life, yet they could remove the property and wealth of the highest citizen, with no questions asked! In a day and age of total corruption, we need answers. And they will not come from politicians!

Their power is from our weakness, so get strong and lean. Live without things, live lite and cheap. Get informed, know who the monsters are and destroy them when the opportunity comes.

I agree that concentration of power is the very thing we must be vigilant to avoid if we are to create a free society. But where there is concentration of wealth, there will always be concentration of power in any society wherein money is equated with value.

This is why we cannot have any conversation about breaking up the structures that concentrate power without also having a conversation about breaking up systems that enable the concentration of wealth.

Unless, of course, we can somehow dismantle the fundamental assumption that money is equal to value. This seems less possible, however, because it would require the leveling of all the major economies of the world.
