I started with a part time raw diet for my chihuahuas and then went fully cooked, because so many were fearmongering when it came to the raw food diet. but now that my babies are 8mos I feel it is time to get back to the basics and take them raw. Thanks for the awesome video!

I'm a first-time dog owner, and while I didn't want my dog just eating dry kibble day in and day out, I also was very cautious about trusting information from the internet that hasn't been scientifically verified (you talk about this in a different video I also watched). I am currently feeding a diet that is half high-quality kibble (Hill's) and half fresh gently-cooked food I make myself. I use ground poulrty, brown rice (lower GI than white), grated carrot, spinach, and egg. A local poultry farm also makes and sells a "pet grind" that includes organ meat and finely-ground bones, so about half the ground poultry is made up of that. My dog also gets a daily multivitamin. It's working really well for us and I love that he's not just eating kibble!

Love your comment about 'fear and alarmism' over raw. I posted on Reddit to get more resources on raw feeding and wow was that triggering for folks. Got several lectures about how dangerous this was and how I was harming my puppy by doing this and that the vet I am seeing who is recommending raw is a 'quack'. But it was also contrasted by a ton of testimonials from people who are doing raw and having a lot of success so that part was nice at least! Anyway thanks for your help, I've been using your recipes and formulator and it's been a life saver! My puppy is SUPER happy and very healthy!

Thank you for this informative video. can you please share a proper balanced cooked home made receipe for cats or do a video on that? (like with cooked chicken heart, liver, thigh, etc and dried egg powder for calcium likewise...)

Hi! Great video, I have two bengal cats and when we got them they were used to raw eating, whole mice and home made raw meals. We never heard of that before and didn't have enough informatim at the time so we swiched them to wet food. They are quite picky but still enjoy raw food and I would like to swich them back following your receipe. My only concern is that the male has cardiomyopathy (diagnosed as he turned 7 a month ago) and is on medication and the female most likely has asthma. I still feel that they would benefit more form a raw diet but with chronic disease there is not enough information out there and the vets are for sure going to advise against it. Any advice would be appreciated!

I love this video. I feed my dog beef and turkey along with vedges like carrots green beans, Spinage and kale plus a little apple sider viniger mixed with water for iron and more vitamans, then i get fish oil in her diet from salmon and a soft bone broth mold for my dog and then i ads a table spoon of dry cold pressed virgian organic coconut oil but that is for a whole gallon bag pf the food. I give her a whole small apple called a dragon apple which she gets 5 slices via every i half cup then i also feed powdered cooked egg shell for calcium and she gets 2 1/8th teaspoons of cinnomon which helps with dogs who are diabetic or just to aid in preventing diabetes, she then gets 3 cooked plain large organic brown eggs mixed in her food as well then 2 special vitamans which come in the form of inhanced treats ome is for skin and coat with lots of omega 3s vitamans and minerals to and one for hip and joint with the same amout of stuff it as the skin and coat one then she gets a flora and digestive health probiotic and a table spoon of mint leaves and a tablespoon of parsley for teeth and breath health, then basil to help prevent cancer then a add a half cup of kibble threw out her meals the day. She gets 90% vet formulated cooked diet that i worked to creat for my service animals and future ones when i was working at a vet clinic in high school so it is very safe and exstreamly healthy and vitamin rich and the 10% kibble helps aid in getting extra vitamins and minerals and gives the ones not in her cooked diet that i can't afford at the moment

i feed both. mixed it. because my dog wouldn’t eat if it’s just raw. so 20% cooked and 80% raw🤩 i don’t put rice though.

Hi Mariah, I have 18 weeks old American Staffy, since we adopted her at 7 weeks, I fed her full raw diet, obtaining raw balance mix from my local pet food store that sells raw dog food.

At first she was very keen to eat it, but now she became very fussy. I mixed the raw food mixes including the bones. I tried to feed her based on her age and weight per grams but she is eating lot less than she should. What could be the problem?

Thank you in advance Mariah. I really appreciate your videos and your help!

a lot of vitamin A in spinach to also normal chicken eggs (well any egg) has the same stuff "Duck eggs" do. eggs are also a good source of vitamin A

I'm hoping to feed a mix of raw and cooked.
And actually using the pray model for my cooked recipes (serving the bone raw obviously) to give my fussy cats a variety of textures and flavours, I'm hoping to gently simmer this recipe in reduced lactose vitamin fortified milk drink for cats, theres a pretty good one that doesn't add anything crazy to it that I can get hold of where I live. This should make a nutritient rich soup for my cats. The hope is they'll be eating raw once everyday or every other day at the least. I'm going to do my best to balance all the vitamins and minerals in both recipes 😊

im not sure if this is a stupid question but can i make the same ratio and ingredients with raw feeding but cook it (except the bones) to make the meal more balanced? then add the steamed water to my cat’s meal?

This is exactly what I need to know as many dog owners keep telling me to cook my raw food for my chow chow as they claim chow chow having a sensitive stomach to handle raw food which I disagree with. Now, I have clear reasons to let them know why they shouldn't cook their one.

I feed a canine appropriate BARF style diet, lightly cooked to aid in digestion and my dog's preference. The issue with cooked recipes online is that they are completely unbalanced, full of rice and starchy carbs, and rarely include organs.

That being said, i see plenty of people feeding terribly unbalanced raw diets, too.
