There is a lot of tension between the raw feeding community and conventional vets. This isn't something I like seeing, so I wanted to dedicate a video to the side you may not always want to hear from - because it's always good to be aware of all information, both for, and against what you believe in.

Keep in mind veterinarians actually have very little training in their courses about nutrition. I had to take an extra 2 years in veterinary nutrition on top of my 4 year standard veterinary courses to be a board certified nutritionist. Vets and vet offices can become just as biased as anyone else because of the lack of education or because they have made a brand deal to recommend a certain brand like royal canin. Seek a nutritionist for your dietary needs is your safest bet.

My dog was going lame in both his back legs. The vet said he needed surgery and he wouldn’t be 100% even after the surgery. I didn’t want to put him through surgery. I started giving him fish oil and noticed an improvement. So, I stopped giving him dog food and started giving him salmon, sardines, steak, chicken….he stopped limping and started running and playing like nothing was ever wrong with him. He prefers his meat slightly cooked. That’s okay with me because he’s an only child now. ❤

It's crazy that natural things in this society get pushed away and then we all discover them again stunned.

Love this video. We've been feeding our 2 french bulldogs raw for 7 years. Vet wasn't thrilled at first, believing kibble was as nutritionally complete as anything needed to be. At the time we were really struggling with GI and allergy issues with our dogs. After a discussion with the guy who sold us the commercial pet food, HE actually recommended we try raw, and I discussed with Vet. I told vet we'd start with a pre-proportioned (proper allocations of bone, muscle, organ), then grind own with very careful calculations. We agreed to do annual blood tests to make sure things remained in balance. I used many references from canine nutritionists. End result? Vet says our dogs are healthier than any of her other patients. Blood results are perfect. Allergies and GI issues gone. Most recent conversation with our vet had HER asking ME for the sources for our dogs' raw diets so that she could help her clients!. At the same time we are in agreement that if people do it wrong, it could be catastrophic. I hope more vets take on the education of pet nutrition so that they can help their clients' pets live longer & healthier lives.

When I was fostering 6 kittens and their mom, I went to the vet and asked them what to feed the little kittens after they weened off, I was given a suggestion of kitten specific canned food, I of course picked it up. I was giving mom some raw fish and raw chicken and one day I noticed that she grabbed a whole piece and took it to the kittens herself, I was amused so I followed. She brought the raw fish to her kittens and they just all jumped on it, biting into it as if they never ate before, It was too adorable, they even growled at each other. I cut up the piece and gave them all so they could all have enough. Nature, eh?

A veterinarian told me to start feeding my dogs raw, because of allergies they got from dry food.
They don't have them any more, and they are much happier getting this food.

Cats are obligate carnivores. You don't need a study to tell you that.

The raw diet has been around since single celled animals have been around.

Theres a difference between a raw diet and feeding your dog chicken and rice.

As a human health care provider, I can say this is largely how the healthcare system is. Love your take on it.

The truth is most people who do raw diets do it wrong. Now those who’s really take the little time necessary to do it right should see great results!

Feeding your pets kibble is as good as feeding your kids nuggets

My grandma remembered a time when dog and cat food were considered weird. The dog and cat got scraps. They lived a long time and didn't have the health issues pets do today.

I just experienced this yesterday! I informed my vet that my 11 year old GSD was switched to a raw diet that consisted of; ground beef, beef
liver, chicken hearts, chicken feet, raw eggs with the shell, mackerel, plain kefir, blueberries, dulse granules and a turmeric/sweet potato paste. She straight up told me that I am probably going to kill my dog with bacteria and a lack of macro nutrients. I told her that I spend the time with a scale measuring out exactly each ingredient so that she’s getting everything she needs, and she didn’t want to hear it. Told me that kibble was the best choice and gave me a bunch of literature to prove that processed kibble was better than grade A meats and ingredients for human consumption. I was so shocked

I genuinely do not believe kibble is balanced for your dog. Raw food is exponentially better when you consultaré with a vet nutritionalist

These are some great points brought up and re-learning how to feed raw is important. The part I find funny in any video covering this topic is the handling of raw meat, but it's also getting me to think that many no longer have practical kitchen skills if this keeps coming up as a topic.

Of course I am no expert but I thought I’d share my experience. I know that my boy’s heart failure was massively due to bad breeding (puppy mill rescue.) He was given three weeks to live at most. Whilst feeding Royal Canin Kibble, he declined extremely quickly. I’m talking a week. I’m a complete pessimist, it’s just the way life has shaped me. If I expect nothing or the bad, then neither of them can upset me. I didn’t believe all the praise the raw diet was getting but I was desperate. I decided on a premade high quality raw food. The improvements in my boy were so beautiful and rapid. He went from deaths door, to like a puppy again!! His heart also shrunk in size to the astonishment of his cardiologist, who even now recommends a raw diet to her other patients! Personally, I will never go back to kibble 🖤
