Pairing an Apple Keyboard with Windows 10

In this episode I'll show you how to successfully pair an Apple Wireless Magic Keyboard (first generation, MC184B/A) with Windows 10 (Version 1809). I've found so much conflicting information on the web, so I'm showing you what worked for me - in May 2019.

I'm using a HP Z800 Workstation here, with a no-frills Belkin F8T013 (early millennial vintage).

Thank you for your kindness in sharing this information with us. I am a 75 yr old lady with disabilities and yet I had no trouble following your easy to understand instructions. Again, many thanks, sir.

Life saver! 3 years later and it still isn't clear in Windows settings or when searching for online solutions. Thanks for the help!

After a ridiculous amount of searching for how to do this and failing, I found this video. Worked like a charm. Thank you!!

I have a Magic Keyboard with Numeric keypad and although my keyboard doesn't have the button on the side, I followed the instructions here to enter the number (onto my magic keyboard) that showed up on my laptop, followed quickly by hitting "enter" and then I hit the connect button on the screen. It worked!

If anybody else has the problem that your computer requests a PIN for the keyboard - just type any 8 digit number and press connect. While it is still connecting, enter the same 8 digit code on your keyboard and press return. Also keep on pressing that button on the right side while doing it. Felt so silly but worked for me!

This is the only video that helped me! Make sure that no USBs are connected to your computer or imac when you turn it on so that it forces itself to look for bluetooth keyboards then keep holding the keyboard button down and dont let it go until it connects and numbers show up on the screen that you need to type out

Excellent advice, from both you and the fellow who first found the solution. I paired my keyboard with a brand new HP all in one and I'm typing this kudos with it.Thanks a lot.And I'm subscribing to you. It's people like you who put in the time and effort that make the internet more than a toy and a plaything [though it is those things as well].

Thank I've been researching how to do this for two days. Yours is the only one that worked. You're the man!!

You just made my day. Especially considering I've been working on a laptop on my dining room table since the beginning of the pandemic, which has taken its toll on my back and needed to set it at the right height.

Thank you!!!! This was so much more helpful than the the few other videos that played before I found yours that had more views that yours. I knew how to find the "connect a bluetooth device" on my laptop. That part is easy! Yet somehow that's the ONLY thing other videos took the time to demonstrate! Thank you for actually pointing out the steps necessary on the magic keyboard itself! P.S. Yes, I typed this comment from my Apple Magic Keyboard! :)

This does not work for my 1st gen keyboard. If anyone else has this problem here's the fix - settings -> bluetooth devices, if your keyboard is listed unpair it. Close that, right-click on the Windows button, select "run". Type "devicepairingwizard" into the bar. Choose your keyboard from the list. This opens a pop-up that asks for a code. Directly under that it says "I don't have a code" or something to that affect. Click that, it displays a code to type in your keyboard, do that and hit return. You have to do it fast so it may take a couple attempts. Be sure to hit "return" after typing the code or it won't work. It then says "connecting". It takes a Long time to connect, maybe 2-3 minutes. Wait it out and you are good to go.

Just came from someone’s office to do some computer work and absolutely could not work on that old clunky Dell keyboard! It was so loud and I felt like I needed to have man hands in addition to working on a high table instead of a roll out keyboard that should be used at every computer desk. Thank you for your video.

I tried this for ages and ages, but to no avail. I then thought, change the batteries, and Hey Presto, it worked a treat. Thank you so much for this :)

Damn, that was great! Phew! That saved a lot of trial and even more error as a Mac user. Simple and easy explanation. Thanks so for the no frills video!

Your video has been super helpful! I am now using the seldom used A1314 keyboard to express my thanks :) You saved me almost $150 with which I was contemplating to buy a new keyboard!.
