I regret saying that I wanted to grow up when I was a kid. 😩

Adulting is a scam. i just want to be self sufficient and able to maintain my passions. Love these real talk convos with you and the vivid but simple b-rolls of your life. I want to try life talks like these on my page too 💖

We aren't really an adult. Tear away the thick skin and all you have is a smiling kid, waving back at you.

I'm being a total bum right now, summer before my last semester of university. Home is less than ideal due to tense family relations emotionally exhausting me by noon daily. Lmao. Work is non-existent, which would be nicer if I didn't have "you must be successful, and if you aren't successful in the ways we want you to be, you're going to get emotionally manipulated to hate yourself" over my head all the time. Sometimes people need a real, actual ~break~

Something about that coffee pour was extremely satisfying. This video is giving wonderfully calm vibes

Whew I feel so seen with the roll straight out of bed 5 minutes before work. I’m not sure what it is because I’ve been feeling the same about work from home. The mere sound of an IM in teams sends me into anxiety at times. It’s nice to have a word for it lol. Thank you for your transparency and authenticity!

I realized i get anxious and formulate a reason for that anxiety
(i.e. remember something awkward and distort the memory)
When in reality, my body is telling my it needs balance

I think working from home has definitely increased how all things emotionally affect me. I’ve always been somewhat of an emotional guy, but its been weighing on me heavy lately. But I’ve done a good job of making sure the things im emotionally invested in are actually important. So all these things have led to me having that conversation with myself. And i know this sounds cliche but I’ve had to log off social media which is great. And that’s something i hope carries on in the future.

Slow mornings, a run & some meditation are the one!

Yes emails and teams updates etc definitely have reduced my productivity. And if it wasn’t for starting work early/ working late I would not be able to get as much done anymore. Also, working from home comes with the extra pressure to reply to messages quicker to sort of prove that you are indeed working and not just taking the piss. I honestly like being home but also WFH honestly has triggered my anxiety so much :(

I honestly turned off the push notifications to my email. it’s just too much because I end up starting 1 million different tasks and I’m not finishing one.

I can relate and all this makes so much sense for why my brain feels uselessly full all the time. Your bad days are my daily routine since working from home started & the anxiety levels from early morning & late evening Teams messages is something else.

You've beautifully worded and expressed the experience of 'paralyzing anxiety' and 'information overload' that I have also struggled with a lot this pandemic (and prior). I'm very privileged to work for a team that strongly encourages work/life balance (allowing mental health days & not expecting responses to emails outside of work hours). Turning on my Do Not Disturb for focus time during afternoons has really helped me, and I'll be working some days in the office, some days remotely after I'm fully vaccinated so I get a balance of collaborative and solo work time. I know not everyone has that freedom with their jobs, but I'm hoping more organizations will instill these types of options for their employees.

Sorry to hear it's difficult right now, sending you warmth and love.

Adella I completely empathise with you especially regarding Network Switching. Sometimes I find myself relying on good old YouTube or music to get through a task 😆. As much as I appreciate not commuting to work, I definitely think we work way harder working from home. At least most times working from the office, once the laptop is closed work is finished 🤷🏾‍♀️

Being confined to a laptop at home can at times feel annoying ... Being home is great but Then I think, I don't want to bring this job home either... Tbfh I don't wanna work at all unless it's for my business

Wow I have been experiencing the same thing. I just can't seem to stop thinking about work even if there aren't any things urgent. Usually when I come back home after work, I'll stop thinking about it during shower but since wfh, I'm stressed even in shower which really sucks. It's comforting knowing that I'm not the only one having this problem

Urghh so relatable, I feel paralyzed sometimes too, so out of it. Currently in a lockdown where I'm at so it's just worse staying indoor all the time. Love the soothing vibe of this video and your voice!
