These linux & open source news videos are much needed to keep up with everything.

These days I follow phone, pc hw, cybersec, privacy, sw engg. & lately AI, semicon & macro business topics. Occasionally space, etc
I want to start following robotics, 5G, IIoT, clean energy, EVs, etc

I can't do all these without youtubers like you ❤

As controversial as snaps are, it will be interesting to see how an immutable Ubuntu with snaps will do as a distro. It might push snaps forward or kill them off.
Lets hope it wont become a slugfest each time you open a new app.

Flatsync is also an interesting thing for me. Although I don't currently use flatpaks where possible. Perhaps this will be a good reason to start using them more actively. Anyway, I think I should check it out.

Simply the best Linux channel on YouTube and in the rest of the universe.

Ubuntu putting their money where their mouth is with Snap is very nice. I might not be the person this is targeted at, but it still looks super interesting. Gonna be interesting to see how it's gonna work in practice.

Good news regarding the Libre Office RPM: the Fedora community was quick to step up and proposals have already been made to adopt the packages. Awesome community there!

I will never use the Gnome light theme, turning on dark theme is something I do the moment I get my hands on anything. It does look very clean though. Fractional scaling is very exciting though. Clever using the text as an example. Very clear what it does.

Man I love your videos. So chill, such a good pace, always coming with great news. You're my top 3 Linux Youtubers tbh!

An office suite requires standardization and compatibility across different operating systems and multiple Linux distributions. The Document Foundation really should announce that the Flatpak and Snap versions of LibreOffice are the officially endorsed methods for installing for Linux, and anything else is considered sub-optimal.

Hey Nick,

I guess you forgot to turn light theme on for your T-shirt :p

Anyway, it's always a pleasure to hear Linux news every week. Thanks for your work!

I don't use light theme, but I would like to see gnome full light version. Current light theme is as inconsistent as ubuntu's previous yaru mixed theme. Also is this reaches gnome-mobile, it will be really interesting

Thanks for another great video! As a long time linux user and increasingly routined nextcloud host, i really apreeciate yiu channel and the steady stream of news. Havinf just opened a game fir the first time in 4 or 5 years, the gamin section all of a sudden seemed more relevant than usual 😄 exciting times!

I have to give Nvidia some credit, they are slowly but surely getting better with their linux support. Their release schedule for driver updates is a lot faster now than it was a couple years ago too. And im pretty happy about hearing that laptop hybrid graphics fix...I have a laptop that I don't use linux on much of because of that reason. Anything that needs hardware acceleration just crashes.

I'm OK with the focus on light themes. I do occasionally use them and they really do have their uses with the right lighting in the room. It's good they're looking to update it and keep things easy on the eyes to read.

"Let's not act like HiDPI displays are a new thing." Amen to that.

Finally, Linux Mint with touchpad gestures 🙌.
Its going to be such a great experience not having to hack gestures on Mint with Libinput, touchegg, fusuma and such.

The Redhat argument is exactly why I was saying I don't like package managers, having to wait until the distro compiles the package. That's the advantage I was saying that Windows has, since you get the files from the people who make the software.

I remember trying to get the latest Wine and how big a pain that was. They would tell you to add a certain repository to your package manager, but I could never get that to work.
