This is the stuff I expect from the first year of a new generation. I am sure they will fix it for upcoming years. This is why I grabbed a 5th gen before they went away. Maybe in 5 years when they have worked through all this stuff I'll think about upgrading.

I can only imagine what this will do up in Canada when water freezes in it!

Clips are on the side that hold it in place over the wheel well and flush with sidel. Easy to take off and replace the clips.

Yeah this seems to be a common issue people are reporting. I immediately noticed the same thing when I visited an SR5 on the lot & I assumed at the time that it was because it was an SR5 model or just a “Friday job”. But I've since seen many people complaining about this issue. Toyota needs to rectify this quality control problem & take resposibility for the repairs. These 4Runners are entirely too expensive to have an issue like this.

Were they loosened at all to aid in the PPF install? Wonder if they were overtightened which can also cause bowing in between. Could be factory doing that as well. Might play around with those fasteners to see if dialing them back a half turn yields any type of result.

I think westcott had the same issue with theirs. But to be fair they jumped it at 80mph 😂

Not a fan of the plastic fender flare. Makes the car look cheap. That issue will only get worst over time. Maybe a vendor could create a steel piece to replace the plastic with option to paint to match the paint.

My 4th gen 4Runner has the same issues. Mind you it is a 20 year old truck and the few issues it does have are all cosmetic.

Where did you buy that microscope? I want one.

could it be from the heat gun they used when wrapping the 4runner?

It might just be a common issue with hard plastic fenders. My parent’s mercedes GLB, GLC, and GLS all have plastic fender pieces like that and they don’t sit flush. But their cayenne that has painted fender trim sits perfectly flush. Same with my 22’ 4R, perfectly flush.

I wonder if summer heat will help resolve this?

So did the guys who wrapped the vehicle bend it a little too far out?

What does it look like when you remove the fenders? I haven’t seen anyone do this on either a 4Runner or Tacoma. I assume it’s like the sport or limited trims, but I’d like to know for sure

What about popping off the fender and adding double sided 3M tape?

But as you showed the back I saw a bow halfway between the spot you pointed out and down the front. Is that an issue?

Has this issue shown up for the Sport model with color keyed fenders?

That was one of the first things I looked at before I purchased. Not that it was a dealbreaker, but I wanted to look.
They weren’t bad at all so it sounds like it’s hit and miss.
Toyota may have a fix for this in the future?
