I’ve heard it being explained in a lot of different ways but I find it incredibly fascinating to see this detail. Raphael given a defensive weapon to combat his hotheaded nature, Mikey given a complicated weapon to help his scatterbrained nature, Donnie given a simple wooden bo to test his innovation especially on the battlefield, and Leo given dual katanas to show how powerful his decisions as leader really are.

I love Donatello and his weapon. The most versatile and to Miyamoto Musashi it was the most difficult weapon to fight against with someone experienced fighting with it. So versatile.

It makes me happy when I encounter informative shorts like this because I used to watch the animated TMNT when I was really, really young not understanding a thing but now that I’m older these kinds of videos make me understand the characters even better. It’s so unexpected and something new!

Its not just that Mikey is scatterbrained, sure its a big factor in why its his weapon. But it's also because despite being the youngest, he's a natural martial arts genius, having mastered his brothers' weapons before they did, so he was given nunchucks as they were not only the only viable weapon left for him to learn/master, but also the hardest weapon to master because it required absolute focus to use in combat, all in the belief that it would teach him to take life and fights seriously...

But then he mastered them to the point that he can still goof around and make jokes whilst putting you in the ICU. Mikey is a monster, everyones just lucky he's essentially a stoner with 80 HDs

Leo’s katana keep him constantly aware of damage he is capable of inflicting, but more importantly, the damage he and his brothers are capable of inflicting
