- About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.

As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.

The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

So true! It was my first hint I was in peri. I weightlift and have always taken care of my joints and muscles, and suddenly I have clicking elbows, popping achillies tendons, and pain in my knees, shoulders and elbows. 😢

Me too! I just turned 50. Peri menopause has been awful not sure what to expect now but I am 90 % achy Al over my whole body every single day - or at lease 97% of the time. Everything hurts . Everything! I have not seen my Dr. About this but my gosh I feel like an 89 year old all of a sudden too. Well it’s been going on for a few months now. Thank you!

I had frozen shoulder that lasted almost four years in my mid-forties. Neither my PCP, not my orthopedic surgeon suggested that it could've been hormone related. Thanks to you, I'm starting hormones, and hoping that I can get back to sleep at night!

Just started having the worst shoulder pain! Waking up in the middle of the night changing positions trying to get comfortable and waking up hurting every morning!

42 and 5-6 months ago I started having consistent soreness in one shoulder joint and in the opposite elbow. I thought I slept on them wrong. My mom says “oh it’s probably early onset arthritis, enjoy” I wish that wasn’t our advice in 2023. Not one female in my entire family has ever spoken the word perimenopause to me, let alone ever have a conversation about it. You are literally my only advice beside google. Thank you for the knowledge.

I don't have pain but my joints feel weaker and I'm more injury prone. I started an anti inflammatory diet and that's helped a lot

I have all this and then some I have fibromyalgia, arthritis neuropathy I worked in the service industry of food over 35 years holding plates in my hands it’s so discouraging I’m overweight when I go to the gym I’m in pain I can’t hold weights in my hands so I can’t work out. I sound like I’m feeling sorry for myself, but God and being for you to help me this is no way to live. I have no friends and I’m isolated. Say a prayer for me if you could.

Frozen shoulder can be a sign of high blood sugar. Get your A1C checked. If it comes out as prediabetic (mine did) cut out all sugar and go low carb. I did this at age 59 and no more pain anywhere! Also lowered Blood pressure.

i can barely get in my car. i have to lift my leg by hand and it’s ridiculous. i’m crying on the inside every day, and can barely turn over in my bed at night. just received an anti-inflammatory yesterday and discovered it is contraindicated for both, BOTH— of my other two regular medications. SO grateful to have found this short, and everyone here posting. we rock!
