'Australia Day' or 'Invasion Day' Debate Continues

The annual debate over the timing of Australia Day continues, as the country marks its official national day on January 26th. The anniversary of the landing of Britain's First Fleet in Sydney Cove in 1788 is regarded by many indigenous people as 'Invasion Day', or the beginning of colonization and discrimination. Rachel Busbridge of the Australian Catholic University discusses how the conversation has shifted among national bodies and businesses.

People have realised that indigenous activism isn’t helping the average indigenous person. It’s more about attacking Australian culture and enriching the well to do indigenous people that manage the indigenous organisations. They’re motivated by greed and resentment.
