How to Set Up an SMB Server in OS X and Windows 8

"How do I move my files from my Windows computer to my Mac?" You could use a flash drive, but those are slow and have space restrictions. A external hard drive? Sure, but it needs to be formatted as FAT 32, which has size restrictions. But what if I told you that you can move files between computers using just your Internet connection?

I'm sorry but this doesn't cover how to create an SMB share on a Windows computer that you can access from your MAC, nothing in this video shows this process, it assumes that the SMB shares on the Windows computer are already in place? Why would they be?

Helped me to set up Player xtream by going to network on my MacBook pro and setting up the IP in wins in network advance and the player found it without me doing nothing on the player apart from clicking on the iMac and found my shared folders.

doesn't work for me, Win 8 computer can't see the mac in the network folder. The mac can see my win 8 pc, but cannot connect to it. I did everything you did in this video.
