It's been 15 years since I turned 18 and began gambling my life away. The addiction never truly stopped - I just found a way to handle the addiction, the addictive personality and at the end of the day just truly understand it all so it would aide my life rather than ruin it forever. But it all began with a change in my mindset.

I just won like $5K in a week, it’s like every bet I placed there is a revenue… it felt like it can go on forever and no way I will let myself lose back the money I won as I feel it’s quite a lot of winnings.

First day of next week, I lost 1K, then I thought ok I will stop if if my winnings cut down to $3K. The next day I lost another $1k, then I told myself hey I still got $3k winnings. Then 2 days later I lost all the winnings, then I told myself to stop. I only stopped for 5 hours and thought hey I haven’t lost a cent so maybe I go small with $200. Then I end up losing about $30K in a week

I’ve got addictive personality too! I’ve lost my girlfriend for 3 years in 2020 because alcoholism & instead of stop drinking I’ve add another addiction on top with gambling! I can see my family is suffering but I can’t stop it! I’m trying my best to get out it! It’s been couple of weeks I’ve didn’t gamble or drank! Instead I’ve help my family!

Your life story is a mirror of mine, but I'm from the UK. I took out payday loans, credit cards and served in the British Army. I gambled while on operations, putting my life on the line for nothing, as I would always lose my wages. I bought a house, sold it, and used the profit to gamble. Hello, I am from Europe and here the minimum monthly salary is €600. A decent salary can be 1000€. From this monthly salary you have to pay food, rent, fuel for the car, etc. But the most important thing is that you can find casinos and pawn shops EVERYWHERE
How could a society like this work?
I have seen people who sold their cars and houses and then committed suicide after losing the money in the hope of a better life
People from Eastern European countries play at casinos because of poverty to earn a quick buck.

May husband has also faced severe gambling problem.. But right support and treatment he is now in recovery journey... But several months of abstinence, now he relapsed more times... Can complete recovery possible 😢 after relapsing
