I heard you should play these with a bit of check side. I tried it and it worked pretty well. I used to try running side and that used to work too but not as well as with check side. But i guess the correct way must be plain ball?

Thats where a true table helps. Ares do turn out a bit. Making it even harder.

To side or not to side?
I have tried it both ways and find it a bit easier without side. The reason being that when I apply side, I find it a bit harder to catch the object ball simultaneously with the cushion. You will probably gather from this that I'm a beginner.
