Installing FreeDOS1.3 in DOSBox

In this video we will install FreeDOS 1.3 under DOSBox-Staging. You can try using DOSBox or DOSBox-X but I can't guarantee it will work in either. I plan to make a separate video later on. If you have any questions please post on the forums or down below in the comments section.

Excellent tut. One note about the mouse settings under [sdl]. In my config, that was under a dedicated section called [mouse]

Thanks. In a future video could you outline differences and commonalities for the use cases of DOSBox vs FreeDOS? The scope of each project is different (FreeDOS isn't game centric and doesn't include an emulator). You are extracting FreeDOS for DOSBox, but is there yet any cross project talk about DOSBox and FreeDOS OS having direct support for each other (simpler installation procedure when you want FreeDOS in DOSBOX)? I'm currently running FreeDOS inside VirtualBox (macOS) and what would I gain by running DF in DOSBox instead? Do you see any technical limitations/problems with trying this out on a Raspberry Pi (FreeDOS in DOSBox hosted by emulationstation, etc)?

Hey TheRetroDev. What is a good DOS to make a database?

Pity this doesn't seem to work on latest staging and FreeDOS on Win 11. Tried various methods including booting the boot image or just mounting the folders. The setup routine detects an operating system and does some "backups" of things that don't exist, then fails to copy anything. Other people reported this as well. Got any idea?

Hello! I tried to install FreeDOS 1.3 in the more actual version of DOSBOX, but it appears error ... will I have to change the mode installation with new versions dosbox? P.S.: I used dosbox staging 0.80.1
