Specifically Windows 9x. Good luck installing a Linux distro.
Technically, Guest OS mode is when you boot into a non-DOS kernel or OS in DOSBox-X (in other words, by booting from a disk image). So this would probably work with ANY OS you can install through DOS.

Some notes to take into account (AKA things I forgot when making and editing this video):
It would be a good idea to put the line mounting the installation CD in the conf file's autoexec until the OS is completely installed. That way, the CD will always be there in case the setup program still needs it after the machine restarts.
As soon as the setup program first closes, THAT'S when you should start copying stuff from the CD to the mounted hard drive.
You can't mount drives while an image file is booted. So, to have any CDs mounted, you have to add the line to mount them in the conf's autoexec.
