Lyrics:
Clockworks

Dismantling the clockwork that makes me the cynic
Pallet, wheel and click
The properties of my indifference
Reverse-engineering what makes it tick
Dissecting the finetuned mechanism
Rack and barrel, spring and pin
Its synchronous characteristics
To kill what makes it spin

Disassemble this machinery
Re-program these eyes, undo this design

Labelled and filed, each part indexed
Broken to pieces then thoroughly burned
Deconstruction of what I am
Buried to make sure he never returns
Taken apart, defused, blueprints turned to ashes
Eradicate the last remains, remnants of the insane

Disintegration, the destruction of me now imperative
To purge myself of this condition, complete this dissolution a necessity

Break this deceitful machine

A lie, what once I was, obsolete instrument
An outmoded contraption, a malfunctioning device

That callous self now extinguished, that malignant self now disused
That conceited invention to nothing now reduced

Complete disintegration, the destruction of me now imperative
To purge myself of this condition, complete this dissolution a necessity

Break this deceitful machine

After years of convincing myself that Bleed is the best Meshuggah song, I have finally come to terms with myself that every Meshuggah song is the best Meshuggah song.

He grows his hair that long just so you won’t see the midi cable connected to the back of mans head.

Imagine being a china symbal fresh out of the factory. As you’re placed into a box for shipping you catch a glimpse of the address tag. And it says Tomas Haake.

My two favorite drummers, Danny Carey and Tomas. Carey feels like an angel who descended from the sky with his intuitive polyrhythms and spiritual playing. Haake on the other hand plays like he's powering some machinery in the depths of hell.

that sensation when you cannot even air drum this song

Haake is 48 years old and still pulling every Shuggah song of like a beast. Inhuman legend from Sweden. People say Zlatan I say Haake!

I've seen many non-metal fans at their shows who just come to witness a god of drumming

Interesting fact: The Global Positioning Satellite system takes it's master clock from Tomas Hakke's right hand.

To me, this is his defining moment. I know a lot of people say Bleed and maybe it had a bigger initial impact, but this song in particular just blows me away like nothing else.

I'm blown away. How on earth does his body parts move so independently? Literally one of the top best drummers out there.

I've been coming here for two years and this shit still makes my jaw drop to the floor. These levels of precision and coordination are well beyond human, this guy is a fucking machine

5:59 Look at the closest cymbal. The drum kit is tearing up over this masterpiece it's hearing

What I like most about him is that he isn't like most metal drummers in that all he relies on is ridiculous BPM and blast beats. He has the subtly of a jazz drummer. It is all in the offbeats and wrists.

Is it more impressive that Mr. Haake played this or is it more impressive that he composed this?

That feeling when you've successfully four-four'ed a Meshuggah song in your head through out an whole song
