Watched a guy do one of these repairs by melting black zip ties.
American ingenuity love it! 👍

The rods that come with the welder are Polypropylene (PP) which melts at 266 degrees fahrenheit (130 celcius). Normal car operating temperature is 195 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are going to weld on plastic then use Nylon (PA) rods which is what the radiator is made of. Nylon (PA) melts at 428 degrees fahrenheit.

A cheap soldier iron that's used for electronics an plastic tie straps work great..I use it on everything that's plastic an never had a problem even a radiator that was full of antifreeze an it still welded together an works perfect .👍👍👍

When plastic welding add some thin copper strands for added strength 👍

If one is welding a plastic gas tank, the tank is made of HDPE plastic, the same thing that oil bottles are made from. Cut some strips from a clean/ empty oil bottle, and grab a soldering iron or soldering gun, and carefully heat the area on the gas tank that is damaged, and melt the strips into that area, being careful that the plastic covers the area enough that it won't come loose. If the tank is removed, it can be tested with water to see if it leaks.
This only applies to black plastic gas tanks. For white tanks, use an empty isopropyl alcohol bottle the same way as mentioned above.

Better way to repair a cracked radiator with plastic casing, split the plastic casing off, then you can patch any metal with jb weld or another solid epoxy or high heat water resistant putty unless you wish to weld in a new panel piece thats been roughly shaped. As i presume the radiator is made of a metal or alloy and this has rusted and failed, and the high pressure and heat lead to the leak perforating the plastic case. Then you want to use plastic cement/plastic weld to fix the plastic case and reinforce it.

If all your doing is melting plastic to fill cracked plastic, it wont be long before this fix fails as due to weathering and operating temperatures, the plastic will eventually break down under the high heat and pressure.

That part that’s leaking… what’s it called? Mines cracked all the way down. I’m willing to jb glue it with high temp and also burn the plastic together till I get a new one. What can I do? It’s a crack that goes all the way down but it’s thick . Toyota carolla 2007

No. This is not the right way especially with the nylon tanks.
You cut a small screen that comes with the Harbor freight kit and melt the small screen that comes with the kit right down into the plastic. that method will work much better.
The screen that comes with the Harbor Freight kit is made out of stainless steel. So it will never corrode.

3rd time i used my welder just like yours the tip bent and fell off now i gotta unscrew the center. You should unscrew yours drill it out and slide back in the iron

Do you have to take out the radiator to do this or can you just weld it yourself while it is attached to the car?

why did you blur out your propane tank? lol
