My favourite part of New Horizons, for me at least, was how it released right around my birthday, and because of me living in the Southern Hemisphere, all my american friends desperately trying to get in to claim stuff from my island they couldn't see for another six months. I was building snowmen while they were still hunting sharks, and it was always a joy to jump on for an hour or two and hang out with friends.

I've always thought that ACNH got a major benefit from its release happening to coincide with lockdown, since everyone was suddenly stuck inside for a long time needing something to do. Somehow I had never considered that Covid also disrupted the game by derailing their planned update schedule. I actually kind of hope you're right about that, because it would imply that the next game might have a more robust update cycle and end up being better for it.

I'll never not be able to call my time with New Horizons some of the most valuable and cherished gaming hours of my life. It was a comfort spot during covid that kept me busy and creative and connected to my friends. Even if I don't play regularly anymore, I love booting it up once in a while to check in on my island. I don't know if the next Animal Crossing can hit the same as this one but I'll always be grateful for the memories from this one

my biggest gripe with new horizons is the fact that nooks cranny can only get upgraded once. it should have had at least another upgrade. it looks so barebones.

I think my favorite memory was definitely playing it during covid. It was my first animal crossing game and it brought so much peace/relaxation during those times. Also playing with friends at night or just having friends in general who played at the time made it so much more enjoyable

100% correct ; i was playing New Leaf on the grand kids old DS because they got a switch, got hooked, planed to buy a Switch Lite, got a used SWITCH for the same price and the rest is history. Still playing . ( learned a lot from streamers like you and Nintentalk )

I literally bought my Switch just for Animal Crossing New Horizon when it came out. Just goes to show how much of a craze it was when it came out.

The first 500 hours were special, it was on the 800 hours that it started to get boring and after 1k hours I realized I've had enough

New Horizons still feels current to me, but it could benefit from a big surprise update like New Leaf's Welcome Amiibo update. That gave it enough life to carry me to New Horizons.

NH was never going to live as long as something like NL. The only reason it became as widespread as it did was bc of Covid time. Right time right place, no meaningful updates will obviously lead to a player base falling off

if they make a new AC for the switch 2 PLEASE have interactive games and things we can do on our islands or towns. That way when someone visits we have somthing to occupy our time.

Honestly Animal Crossing New Horizons is my first Animal Crossing game. I have a little over 1800 hours in the game. I have been playing since 2020. I have been helping my husband with his island lately. He is more of an avid gamer than me. He plays Pokemon Scarlet, sword, Luigi's mansion, ect. Animal Crossing helps me relax after my day.

As someone who 100% Stardew on both the Switch and my Xbox account (granted I’m old enough to have played Harvest moon as a kid) I’m in so much pain waiting for 1.6 on console so I can spend another 100 hours on both… I just wanna scream…

I dont understand this mindset of the game being "dissapointing without updates" games come out and nintendo doesnt have to keep talkin about forever. Its NOT and online game. Yes its not perfect and i lacks some stuff but thats the finished game. Like mario oddysey, its out and it was a success, to keep it alive you just have to keep playing it, thats not on nintendo
