the reason voyagers pylons moved was to stop damage to subspace the older warp fields damaged subspace this was a design change to the pylons/nacelles warp core that starfleet adopted after the events of the tng episode force of nature which lead to starfleet putting a cap on max warp for all ships unless givin permission to exceed it

the tmp movies had blue and redish pink plasma exhaust streams comming from the ships nacelles at warp and in star trek online the ships have a plasma exhaust streams comming from the rear of the nacelles and every ship in the new shows have nacelle plasma exhaust streams when going to warp
